Here is my review of the 2019 Xpedition Mako X.

I was very anxious to shoot this bow! With this Mako being a 30in draw I expected it to draw a bit harder as I draw 29. I was really surprised as it came back nice and steady. I did not notice the additional inch in draw. The Mako X draws smooth with no hump and dump as people like to describe it. The Mako reaches max poundage 8.5in into the draw cycle maintaining weight within 1# of max for another 9.5in gradually losing poundage over the last 5in. The bow settles in and holds very nice and solid at full draw. In my opinion is has a nice and adequate valley at 80% let off.

The grip on the Mako like on all Xpeditions isn’t too small or large. It has a nice flat back that’s sits nice and consistent.

I shoot bows all the time and one thing that caught my attention was how quiet the bow was. I have heard time and time again shooting light arrows results in a loud bow. I don’t know how anyone could say the Mako X is loud while shooting a light 325gr arrow.

At the shot the bow is as dead as you could want. I shot this Mako over and over and it never wanted to take off on me at full draw nor did I become fatigued.

2019 Xpedition Mako X specs as advertised.

Ibo Rating - 364fps

2019 Xpedition Mako X specs as tested. (Bow was tested w-peep/loop.)

Draw length - 30in

Max poundage - 65.94#

Mass weight - 4.33#

Holding weight - 13.25%

Let off - 79.99%

325gr arrow = 357.8fps

KE - 92.41#

397gr arrow = 327.5fps

KE - 94.57#

If you have been curious about the Mako X I hope this review sheds some light on what this bow can do.
Do not let this bows BH scare you. The Mako X is a flat out smooth shooter that’s easy to shoot. You will not shoot this bow long before you will forget its BH.

If I can help any of you with a new Mako X please let me know.

I will have you some results with a 550gr Arrow this evening my friend. You say real hunting weight arrows. I hunt with a 329gr arrow, for real.

I will let you know what I come up with later on this evening. Thanks my friend.

The draw cycle on the Mako is very smooth. I find it easier than some previous Xpedition models. The draw cycle really is surprising.

Ok guys I just put a couple heavy arrows through the Mako X

Mako X 30/65 w-peep/loop. Here are the results

496.2grs = 294.8fps

547grs = 280.1fps

This should give you an idea of what this bow will do with a heavy arrow. Hope this helps guys and if I can help anyone with a new Mako X let me know.

I wish that I had the same experience. After breaking off two Gold Tip Velocities at about the 10-12” mark I’ll never shoot a lighter arrow at elk. Total weight was about 380 grains.

Sorry to derail your thread but great review and Kevin seems like a stand up guy.

I think arrow weight is definitely based on the game you hunt - anything under 500gr would probably bounce off the stuff I go for...with 550gr my absolute minimum - and that's for the bunnies !!
