This^^^^^^^^^^^^^. I own a Excalibur Assassin Extreme 400 and it is a simple and reliable as it gets. It shoots a 453grn arrow at 367fps and is scarry scarry accurate out to 60 yards. If you have a solid trust worthy pro shop near your home that works on crossbows or you have your own bow press YOU KNOW works well with crossbows and you KNOW how to use it, then buying a compound crossbow is doable. Unfortunately for me the nearest good proshop is about a 75 minuet ride one way. I invested in a 100% crossbow compatible bow press because I LOVE to tinker and do my own bow maintenance and repair.

If you're looking for a dead accurate extremely reliable crossbow that is dirt simple to work on in MY OPINION, you can not beat an Excalibur crossbow.

I would go with the Rev X and the reason being. Easy bow to work on and change strings without a press. Excellent customer service if you ever have a problem. I have owned both
and always went back to Excal. I always worried about the cams, cables, strings and all the moving parts on my Tenpoints, Killer Instinct, Horton, and Predator crossbows. When one
of those had issues I always had to find a shop for restringing, repairs or any other work. Just my 2 cents worth. I own the Rev X and won't turn back. 2024 crossbow of the year IMO.

i would go with a mission XR or sub 1.........because mission have a Full lifetime warranty ....None of this stepdown in time warranty's we are seeing more of ......and they stand by it....also Made in the USA...... is not the newest or the flashiest...... you can buy it and they will cover it for life.........

1. Do you have a crossbow press to work on your purchase, or will you have to take it to a shop for service?
2. Are you going to be happy with something you just sight in and hunt with but don’t shoot much?

The 440 seems to be getting good reviews (better than the 515), but still is a high performance crossbow that needs experience to maintain.

The Sub 1 XR is the only one of the 3 that can be rope cocked. It is in the middle performance wise. It can be maintained without a press, but that process is a bit laborious. They tend to be heavy and front heavy.

Rev X is getting nothing but outstanding reviews. I have held one and the balance is excellent. Crank only, but excellent system, like the Ten Point. Super easy maintenance. It will be the slowest of the 3 but still far more than sufficient.

Best thing to do, IMO, is to go to a shop that has them and handle (ideally shoot) each to make up your mind. Best of luck with your decision.

I own a Venom x and a Ravin R10 and I like them fine, but a compound crossbow of any make or model requires much more maintenance.

In my opinion the Rev X is pretty much the perfect crossbow… recurve limb simplicity, reasonable maintenance, you can work on it
yourself.

String replacement is cheap and the built in crank system means it is a lifetime bow. You may be able to rope cock a bow now, but things change.

Crossbows are expensive. I would trade all my bows and related equipment right now for a Rev X. For me it checks all the boxes.
