Bought some gold tip air strikes and going with sevr 2.0 broadheads this year. Wanting to go with a low profile 3 fletch vane. I’ve seen some debate as to no matter what broadheads you use of you use low profile 4 fletch is the best way to go but I’m wanting to run 3 fletch. What vanes have you used in 3 fletch that are low profile for mechanical or even fixed blade.. thanks in advance.

I prefer 3 fletch for clearance and if concerned about steering than would only use stiff vanes. I have used aae max stealth and q2i fusion vanes both 3” or just a hair under. Both stiff.
I am making some fat indoor target arrows today and using tac driver vanes for the first time. They are the stiffest vanes I have used yet and I am now thinking I will use them for the next hunting arrows I build.

was thinking I would use the Q2I fusion xii 3” or 2.1”. The arrows come stock with the rapt x vanes but I like the low profile for cable clearance. I have no issue with turning the arrow but it’s something that I would like to not have to worry about. I’ve used Bohning heat vanes but only in 4 fletch because I usually use a fixed blade but this year I went with mechanical.

If got the Bohning pro jig right now. Thinking of getting the aae max helical jig. I’ve got blazers now they do a great job and are durable but have to clock my arrow that way it won’t hit the cables and it’s not a big deal but if I can get something lower profile with good arrow flight I want to try it out.

I've been a feather guy for a lot of years but recently built a few dozen arrows with vanes. I just wanted to mix it up a little. I used blazers, max hunters and fusion2.1's
Blazers preformed excellent as they always have. The max hunters were great as well but both, those and the blazers are pretty tall. The ones that really impressed me were the fusions. I was a little sceptical due to the size and such a low profile with a fixed head but was very pleasantly surprised. I went with 3 fletch with a strong helical and they fly amazing. I'm using 125g G5 montec's and have great flight to 50 yards. Which is as far as I've shot them. Shouldn't be any issue with mechanicals.

It's all about total surface area. 4 small ones or 3 larger ones, your choice. How large depends on how well your bow is tuned, your form, and how much steering your broad head has. Taller vanes grab more air but make more noise. Some people want the security of having larger vanes in case they make a bad shot (which happens with buck fever out of a tree, etc.) Out west You might want to fine tune to get away with the smallest vanes you can get by with to reduce arrow drop at long range. I hunt whitetails from a tree at short range with a big fixed head and use three 3" feathers even though a 2" will work for insurance.
