Check with Smoothon for a two part silicone rubber. I use it about every day at work. It is easy to work with once you have a mold. Send me the specifics regarding the dimensions and number of arrows. I will work on a mold.

 

I would pay money for one of these. This looks sick.

Have you looked into the different types of flexible 3D filaments? Here is a link with some info to get you started.

I just ordered some tpu to try after looking at some grippers people are making.

 

You could also do some research on making a silicone mold.

 

Looking good man. I'm sure you could source rubber sheet for the grippers. Can you 3d print a stamping die out of a material that's tough enough/ sharp enough to press cut the rubber? I simply don't know enough about 3d printer material properties to know if this is even possible. I'm sure something like this would not work for a large scale process, but if you could stamp say 20 before you had make a other die, it could make $$ sense.

 

I know a water jet company that cuts rubber for my day job.
$220 dollar set up fee though.
So I would want to have the design down first lol

 

how does the durability look on that? I've seen some plastic be very solid and others be very brittle

 

We will find out. I’m planning on hunting with this this year.
As well as using it at the range for the rest of the season. I shoot a couple times a week.

the mounting posts use the 1/4” bolt to give them side to side strength.

I hate how 3D printer material looks rough and unfinished, but the execution is a 10/10

 

Im positive that depends on the machine.
If you see some of the work CNC machinist spits out with his machine you would be amazed.

Looks great!! Make it out of a high temp plastic, the sun or even a hot car can deform PLA.

So far it’s feeding and laying down pretty well. Got some under extruding on the first layer but that seems to me fixed atm

14% done the print.

 

I would say it went very well.

Grips the arrows very well.
I am going to reduce the size of the cut outs around the gripper hole to stiffen it a bit more but this went well for the first time printing TPU.
This was at 80% infill I believe

Is this a carbon tube or 3d printed? I'd recommend just getting scrap arrows. Cheaper, lighter stronger.

 

That’s is a gold tip arrow shaft.
It has plastic residue on it from my target

Well the order is in for a printer that can print ASA. My work wants me to dabble in this and learn more. We currently sub out our abs parts.
They are fine with me using the machine
So I will be able to make this stronger and heat resistant.

don’t look at the layer issues on thetop of the quiver. Look at how close it is to the limb.
And can go closer 😁

 

Had another successful TPU print.
This gripper on the top will hold .204 shafts and .246.
The transition to the 0.204 is a bit tight so I’m going to adjust that for v3
