Does anyone use 4 vanes [plastic] for their hunting arrows with broadheads. Would the extra vane provide more stability for arrow flight? I'm trying to get a greater FOC and want to switch to 4x3" vanes, instead of 3x4" [every grain counts]. Figured this would be similar to the turbo noks, which I believe have a 4 vane idea.

Someone else out there has to know more about this than me, but I'll give it a shot. Four vanes should stabalize a broadhead equipped arrow faster than one with three vanes. This is because there is more surface area causing drag as it goes through the air. If I remember right, feathers create more drag than vanes because of their rough surface. You may be able to get away with three feathers instead of four vanes. If your not using a drop away rest, I would think it would be a nightmare to get vane clearance. Just my $.02. Good luck.
