Glyphosate or 2, D-4 for tougher stuff like russion olive, briars, etc.? I was told 2, D4 because the Glyphosate will struggle with the other.

This is for clearing areas back in the woods for plots...............

mix crossbow with glyphosate/roundup. Crossbow will take care of the tougher stuff for you. We used that mix for our 3D archery course this summer and it worked very well. Tried the first time with glyphosate only and didn't have good results. Sprayed a second time with Crossbow and that did the trick.

Glyphosate alone isn't enough on larger vegetation but tank mixed with other products it really enhances the effectiveness of the other products.
If you are going after 'woody' plants you'll be more satisfied with the Crossbow. It's kinda pricey but you'll have better results with it that 2,4D alone.
The mix of 2,4D and Triclopyr is really effective.

Depends on the weeds you are looking to control. "Weeds" is an all inclusive term. Glyphosate will have good results on most grasses, whereas 2,4-D will give you better broadleaf control. As mentioned, glyphosate is a good tank mix partner with several other herbicides. I haven't worked with Crossbow, but a 2,4-D - Dicamba mix should be pretty deadly.

Just make sure to check plant back intervals for your selected crop species for your plots. We all use glyphosate so often because it has decent broad spectrum control with no measurable plant back interval for what you are actually wanting to grow.

They are telling me the Brush Master 2, 4d will allow planting 2-3 weeks after application. I am going to plant with Frigid Forage wildlife buffet or maybe a local mix of clover/winter rye.

Sounds like something I should look into, I've been using just glyphosate and tilling under anything that doesn't die. I let it sit a few weeks after the initial till and till it all under again and have had pretty good luck, usually my crop plants are well established and keep any new weeds from coming up through the season, new plots take a little more work and might need to be sprayed twice though.
