i'm interested because i've been seeing alot of greenies on the forest floor. any acorn experts out there???i might even eat a couple myself:wink:

Yes, deer will eat them green! I had to cut down a large white oak in WV Labor Day weekend, hundreds of green acorns in the yard when the tree hit the ground. Deer out there all night, next morning only a handful of acorns left. It's amazing how many they can eat! As for trying them yourself,,, they are bitter even when they're ripe!(brown) :tongue:

I was hunting in KY last weekend. The wind was rough there when Ike came through, looked like a war zone in the woods. Looked to me like the deer were mopping up all the green acorns that had fallen.
