I hunt an area where we really don't have any agricultural crops for a few miles. The deer head for the acorns in the late evening and pretty much spend the night there. That makes it a good evening spot, but if I try to get in there in the morning I'll usually spook some deer.
When the mast is heavy, I have seen deer feed under a single tree for hours. I have had succes best in the morning in the herdwoods, but have aslo had success at dusk. It seems like the deer stay off the acorns at mid day.
