Alternative Services - Awful Customer Service

Hi, there I figured I would write here to see if anyone has a higher reach with Alternative Services than the sales dept, who is IMO awful at resolving inquires.

This is the second time I get in trouble with their order, taking excesive amounts of time to being delivered. I have bought from many vendors and people here in the forum and never have major issues rather than the expect delays due to the pandemic> I had issues both times with Alternative, but this last shipmet was oredered 8 weeks ago, and when I inquiry with them, this is the answer i got:

So basically, if I do not pay them for the most expensive delivery option I should not complain if my order never shows on my door?, besides their tracking is only good in uk, so I figure it is worthless anyway.

If anyone has a way to help me contact Alternatives management I would appreciate it, I would like to think they can offer a more reasonable solution to my problem

I quess we all have own customer experience where logistics may have some hickups causing most issues by 3rd parties.

I have not had any issues with Alternativess but is it because I live in Europe and have rather shorter delivery time (< 2 week). I have bought my bows and expensive stuff from them during last 4 yrs (riser, 4 x limbs among others).

Notice, I have bought all my stuff from Luxembourg, not from UK where Brexit even still can cause some delays.

Could it be one of the reason for your delivery delay?

With the cost of overseas shipping from Lancaster going up so much I’ve switched back to ordering more from Alt and still never had a problem. Why can they ship a pack of feathers and points for $15 from Ireland to Ontario where LAS wanted $35???

I've made many orders from Alt over the past 20 years. Generally cheaper, and the shipping is usually fast. Depends on world shipping issues. But they definitely believe "The best defense is a good offence." If there is any problem, they accuse the customer. Their website has always had bugs, they blame the customer. In this instance, JotaR wrote some things that would obviously trigger Alt's defensiveness, too much disrespect, when the issue is clearly, and still, shipping because of COVID. But they suck at proper treatment of customers when issues arise. I remember the husband was on the old Sagittarius board and he was a terrible poster. People made a point of never ordering from his store due to his bad behaviour on the forum. He's a grumpy guy. But cheap and fast.

I ordered from Alt services on 20 April it's now 28 may. Order was paid. I received confirmation from,Alt services. Since then nothing not even a reply . only getting a automatic reply saying that my mail is queued for response. And due to a member of staff being hospitalised. Delivery is delayed.
I tried phoning number out of order.
Email 7 time's same response.
Has anyone had recent delivery from Alt services. Or have the same problem as I have.

We still get weekly orders from Alternative, so they are still in business, I can grant. But Glyn Goodwin, owner, got a severe injury to his back 3 weeks ago and has been hospitalized, most probably needing surgery. Unfortunately, he is the person taking care of orders from outside EU in terms of export and customs procedures, so while EU shipments continued from the Luxembourg seat, shipments from UK to the rest of the world have cumulated a lot of delays.

My sympathies.

I had a back problem about 30 years ago and had surgery, still remember what it was like to only have a few minutes here and there when I felt functional, then had to lie back down and rest.

I only ordered from Alt Services one time - some target pins that were recommended to me - and the service was incredibly fast considering overseas shipment in addition to clear across the US to the west coast. And the pins were a good value too!

Hopefully your back is better now. My surgery was good . All three times, but a nerv trapped in my back after the last one. Now I have a drop foot. But I can live with that. Retired now after 39 year underground maintenance in a sink mine. Still active. President and coach at our archery club. Also swimming coach for Special Olympics Ireland. .. very rewarding. So I tend to be busy. Thanks for your comments

I have waited 8 weeks past the “estimated dispatch date” and no updates for a while. I did get a reply a few weeks ago about serious injuries for a key staff member. But no auto-reply from the lady inquiry.

I’ve had good experiences with them on 3 or 4 orders previous orders. But this one has me perplexed. Wait for how long? Doubt refunds would happen any more confidently.

I placed two orders in April; one for a riser and one for limbs and arrows. I considered trying to cancel my orders, but then got a shipping notification for the riser this week. It arrived to the U.S. in two days with no customs issues. Still no word on the second order, but I saved $400 on the riser, so I’ll call that a win.

Here is the update from Alternative that came with the confirmation:

Happy to hear your thoughts on their being back. I’ve always had good experiences with past orders. The last one being the exception. Finally had to cancel and request refund. Refund approved but I have yet to receive my refund. Had to resort to filing a grievance with credit card company. Date of compliance here now. Hopefully I’ll receive finalization within next few days. Will watch comments here about their recovery. I want to do business with them in the future. Hopefully, they will come back stronger, learn from this setback and make contingency plan for if a similar situation arises it will be handled better. Good luck the them.

Hello guys.
I ordered from Alternative this month and everything is fine got the item already. It’s would be fine if you just order. But for any request or you want to reach them out is nearly impossible to get any response.

PS anyone ever got their ABC badge? The haven’t sent it to me yet.

Just wanted to note that the whole tarring/UPS import fee thing seems to be a moving target. I paid nothing on my recent order. It was late coming and that may have ended up saving me some money. To be clear, the charge is imposed by UPS as the importer and not by Alternatives. Of course, that doesn’t change the bottom line, but understand that Alternatives probably can’t predict what UPS will charge, if anything, beyond the base shipping cost.
