I'm thinking of picking up one of these. I know they are pretty cheap. I use treestands for bowhunting but think I might use a blind when the weather is nasty. Any thoughts on this blind?

You will need to position yourself so your elbow is going into a corner when you draw. This makes it so you have to shoot out the corner of a window. They are not really tall enough either. If you sit on a chair to shoot there is a good chance your bow will be rubbing the top of the blind. I found it a lot better if I placed my seat in a corner and then just went down to my knees to shoot. It can be done but I would highly recommend that you practice shooting out of the blind before putting it in the woods.
Yup not a bad blind but you do need to practice like he said. Make sure your arrow clears the window and not just your sight pins, found this out the hard way.
My wife got me one few years back. I opened it in the living room to check it out, and it was a ROYAL pain in the you know what to fold up. Once I got it in the bag it went in the box and back to the store.
As I said, these are not ideal but they can do if it is all you have. Practice to make it work for you.
You do need to be careful when you open it up. I got too close once and when the spring tension opened up the blind jumped up and smacked me in the pills. Live and learn I guess.
Ditto on the small thing and being a pain to fold back up. We got a brickhouse after we had the doghouse and it has a lot more room in it, also doubles as a pretty respectable ice shanty with a couple ice anchors.
Works ok for me. A good option in rainy weather. If your blind sight gets high winds get better tent stakes or it will blow away. I open the small window on the front, Sit in the back left corner, and shoot off my knees.
Having used both the dome and the hub style blinds, I have thought the deer have reacted less often to the dome style than the hub. As long as your not sasquatch you'll be able to get a shot out of a Doghouse from a bucket or taking a knee. Cheap, effective blind.:darkbeer:
Like has been said, its a little small but I'm 6'3" and have a 29" draw, i'ce hunted from one. I just position myself to where my elbow goes into the corner. I also drop to my knee to get a shot. With practice and familiarity, it is possible.
Well we set one up in the plains of NM two weeks before the hunt. The wind does get nasty at times too. One of the fiber glass poles broke. My buddy was able to make it work though and killed out of it 2 hours after sunrise. Found that setting your chair in the corner and shooting from your knees worked best. The primos predator den was way better.
