guys I'm looking for some feedback from those that use the amsteel daisy chain on there climbing sticks. Do they secure well?
Is there much weight savings?
If I order these what size would be recommended for my helium sticks?

Absolutely hate them tho not as much as versa straps. I love the modding guys and some of the cool stuff they come up with. But I'll never understand the pursuit to get away from the cam strap. It's mindless to use, becomes absolutely silent with simple stealth strip or Yakgrip. Easy to swing around the tree. Nothing locks the stick tighter to the tree. Virtually no chance for kick out. The stick barely sags after tighting. because of the sag with amsteel, I'm almost positive that's what bent my beast brackets. If you need the weight reduction from 4 buckles to get you further in the woods you have far bigger health problems in your life than hunting ones. Amsteel you almost never seem to line up with the correct hole. You can turn the stick parallel to the ground, use a closer hole then turn the stick back upright again to get closer. But that cause the brackets to grind against the tree making lots of noise. There's lots of sag. If it's windy they're an absolute pain to swing around the tree. It's no contest stick with the strap

Well 1/4” Amsteel is higher rated than any cam buck strap that is included with steps...like most things...to each their own....amsteel rope mods whether a standard mod, daisy chain mod, or prusik mod all cut some weight, but more importantly noise and bulk. I can fit five 7’ amsteel rope mods in one of my pants pockets...zero noise during set-up.

If you’re considering a daisy chain, I highly recommend Mike’s whoopsie daisy chains...

And one of his versa aiders ...

Don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Second choice for me the prusik mod...simple rope mod with loop on one end, square knot on the other and a prusik knot between. Put the loop
On your button, wrap your rope around the tree, slip the prusik over the button and pull tight...SUPER slick, fast, quiet easily adjusts to any size tree.

They can be a pain in the wind but a simple extra knot on the end has done me rather well.

Hope this helps.

I should have mentioned I have both the whoopsie daisy and prusik mods that I use universally on my Helium’s, LWs, and Muddy Pros

I have both Amsteel daisy chains and the prusik/amsteel mods. One set is on my hawks and the other in the lone wolf sticks. This is my first year using climbing sticks and saddle but as of now I am like the prusik/amsteel mod over the daisy chain. I feel I can get the prusik style tighter on the tree.

The whoopsie daisy chain has an adjustable loop on the end that allows you to pull it tight...I’ll put something quick together when I get home.

Prior to discovering it, the prusik mod was my goto

I am not a huge fan of daisy chains. They are light and easy to use but. I have on multiple occasions after stepping off the sticks had it pop up and kick sideways. Makes it a difficult task to reset from above.

My favorite method is pulling the buckle off the strap and using that. Only problem is I need to carry extension straps with me because the strap is only like 5’ long.

Amsteel ropemod is tried and true.

Cam buckles are soooo yesterday....

I will have to revisit the prussic. Last time I tried it I found it a pain get back off.

I like Amsteel daisy chains if the hole does not line up perfect I set a few inches higher to allow for sag they are not perfect but I like how quiet and simple they are. That said I hate them and versa straps for setting a platform only use with sticks

I love the Amstel daisy chains. I tried them out and I now have the them on 3 different sets of climbing sticks. For those who say it's all about weight, that had absolutely nothing to do with it for me. My change was all about getting away from the noisy metal buckles, which wrapped or not still make noise. I hang my steps high, wrap the daisy chain tight, set the step and I have had zero issues of kick outs or slippage and I see no advantages over using a noisy, bulky metal strap over the Amstel daisy chains. They're not that expensive, I would try a couple for yourself, compare them and see what you think. I actually have some Amstel 3/16'' aiders on order right now, definitely looking forward to trying them out as well. Best wishes.
