Just out of curiosity, can a paper be too thick or too thin for tuning?, if so what results could an a:confused leaving the bow cleanly show?

Use wax paper. If paper is to thick it won't give the best reading.

I have never tried thicker paper, but I would guess if you had a 1 inch tear in 1/8 inch thick cardboard you would really have a problem. I have seen a few arrows that have gone through plywood, however, and they all had a bullet hole.
