I didn't. :(

I was curious if any of you were successful?

I will rant (whine) just like I did on MWT. Myself and 2 buddies have put in for the same draw hunt for the past 3 years. It is a small place off the radar and only averages about 100 applications each year. This year we had 2 preference points (essentially 3 names in the hat). They draw 20 hunters each year. Odds looked good. NADA! And I know of another guy who has been drawn twice in this same time frame. Where is the flaw in this system??:thumbs_do

I used to live/ work in Blue Springs. I would love to hunt Lake Jacomo. That place is crawling with deer! Ever tried it?

I have a great friend that lives over by Unity Village and he has pics of some studs in those corn fields across the street.

My buddy and I put in for Fellows Lake too. Neither of us got drawn as we put in seperate. Next year I think we will enter together though. I used to fish there all the time and have seen some nice deer around there. My girlfriends dad and his buddies put in for Caney Mountain and get drawn every year, but if you look at the statistics you'll see why (VERY low kill count). Last year I don't think anybody got one.

got a draw for Watkins Mill some years back and that was when you could take 3 had to kill and check 2 does then could take a buck, kills 2 does in the first 20 minutes of shooting light and then spent the rest of the day getting them drug out. Shot a really nice 9 the next day though. LOTS of big deer there and I have buddies that get drawn almost every year there for archery.

Did not apply.

thought about Swope Park or Longiview Lake area but did not get around to it. Have my own land just south of KC.

Had a friend hunt Longview lake last year had to shoot a doe before a buck. Said he had 12 does around his stand the first 1/2 of shooting on first day. Drop the biggest one. Then hunted the rest of the time for a buck but only does. When he walked out the last time he talked to another hunter that only seen bucks and never got a doe down to shoot one. Guess they should of talked sooner.

i wish. last year i got drawn (it was the first time i put in) at the december Busch hunt but didnt have any luck. my friend got drawn for a Busch hunt this year so weve been scouting while dove hunting. my dads good friend has put in at Colombia bottoms for the last 7 years and never gotten drawn...you think he would have a good chance with all those points

I now have 4 preference points after not being drawn this year. I realize the hunts change from year to year, but it would be nice if they had hunt specific preference points to give people who put in for the same hunt year after year a better shot. I also think they should change to a REAL preference points, IE myself with 4 preference points gets in before everyone else with less points...end rant. '94

No luck for me this year. My rant is that you should be able to select 3 hunts(whether at same CA or not), like they used to do for waterfowl reservations, so if you get drawn and your first pref is gone, you can still get a shot at being drawn for one of the other 2.

No luck for me either. I have only applied for the Jacomo west side hunt, I have put in for 4 straight years and have not been selected. Should have 5 preference points going into next year, I thought I had prett good odds this year but no luck.
I can attest to the quality of deer there, I was part of a management group that leases that property on the west side of Jacomo for the last 4 years, got out this year due to the construction, not that is has bothered them. there are some monsters there. I have seen many 150" plus bucks killed on our lease the last 4 years and 2 in the 170's. I will just wait to get drawn then go kill one of hose giants. Hopefully next year

No luck this year, I can't complain too much though b/c it was my first app.

I think that limiting the draw hunts to MO residents would help the odds, and pref points getting a "preference" over lower preference points. But....I am just sore about not getting drawn and having to hunt another year on the free access CA's that surround a major city.

Whoa, whoa, WAIT!!! Are you telling me non-residents can apply for these hunts? If that is the case I really am pissed, and am going to start writing letters! '94

'94. Non-residents don't even have to pay for a license to apply for these hunts. All they have to do is call up and get a Conservation Number. ZERO cost! At least a NR for Kansas or Colorado has to fork out $300+ for the summer in the hopes of being drawn.

Anywhere in KS!!!! LOL actually if you want a really cool muzzle loader hunt apply for the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, I have never NOT been drawn for this one, I have actually not gone several times just because I was tired of hunting there every year.... and there are some absolute monsters in that place.

I did not know that NR hunters could apply either. That really pisses me off.
I am with you, time to write into the state, MO residents should get fist dibs then go to NR if enough did not apply.
What a bunch of BS

Shoot thanks for the reminder going to check now.. I put in for a urban bowhunt at Springfield lake. They are only drawing 11. Odds are slim but me and the wife do have 2 preference points between us..

Public land is public land, no matter if you're a res or non res. I'm not saying that they shouldn't limit the number of non res permits given out to 25% or less of the total, but to say that non res have no business being allowed to put in for a hunt is a little ridiculous. Be thankful that non res' do, or else the higher fees we pay wouldn't be bringing in the revenue to your small towns and your dnr to allow for improved lands.

It was already said, it is fine for NRs to apply, but for a resident to get bumped by a NR is kinda crazy. If there are slots available after resident apps are filled, then fine, but not before. These aren't just public land hunts, they are places that are only available to hunt thru the managed hunt system. We have plenty of public ground that is walk-in for NRs.

been putting in for Busch Hunt for 4 years now and still cannot get drawn. Brother-in-law put in for same hunt and he gets drawn with 0 preference points after being drawn last year. I have sent 3 e-mails to MDC today to show my disqust with their so called WIEGHTED RANDOM DRAWING. They told me that it was too bad I didin't get drawn , but that is the way it goes, better luck next year. Rant over sorry for long post.
