My first time to hunt South Dakota is coming up in October. Whats this area like? Never been there before. Real steep mountains? Rolling hills? Both? This'll be the first time I've ever been around whitetails as well. I bought the either sex and the double antlerless tags. Should be fun.

I use to hunt the black hills in Wyoming on the South Dakota border. A beautiful place to hunt. More like big hills than mountains. Weather can be perfect in October. Not too cool or too warm. Watch out for the snow in November. It can fool you has fast it comes down.

When in October are you going to be in the Hills? Also what kind of hunting are you planning on doing (tree stand, blind, still hunting...) I have lived and hunted in the Black Hills for 15 years. I may be able to help you out. Its a huge area and very little pressure. Send me a PM if you like.
