I have this chrony and use it for my guns, paintball markers, bb guns, and my bows as well...............
Great chrony, you just have to make sureyou have sufficient light.
For instance when I use it in my garage I have to turn on an lamp for extra light or it reads inconsistant.
I have used it without the difusers and even guide rods as well, just as long as direct sunlight in not going in the sensors it seemed to work fine.

You can. In fact, my Chrony works most dependably on a hazy, bright overcast day without the diffusers. The diffusers are a pain to use unless the sun is bright and directly overhead.

Yep. Got one in my basement. Works nice. I did pay a little more than $5.00 for it!
