I just got my AHP (Annual Hunting Permit) and Map booklet for the Texas Public land hunting units and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any of the units for deer for Bow hunting. I have never hunted any of these units before.

Many let you also hunt hogs so if you know of one that is loaded with hogs that would be good information also.

Thanks, Ranchdog

Great,

Looks like I have the entire state of Texas public land to myself.

North end of sam Houston is pretty good . Go a day or to early and watch for deer crossing the roads right at dark ,mark the spot and hunt about 300 yrds. up the trail the next evening they will cross there before it gets dark .Good luck

I have hunted some of the areas before. Robertson county is pretty nice. Lots of hogs and plenty of deer.
My hunting partner moved so I hate to have that 1 hour drive by myself.

Try that area though, not many bowhunters. Come general season if something moves out there it dies. I never go to public land from Nov 1st thru Dec15-20. Just too many shooting happy fools. :star:
