Anyone try a "goose hunting" layout blind for deer?

Just wondering if anyone else has used a layout blind for other than goose hunting.
I have used mine for ducks, geese, crows, and even coyote hunting.
But I have not yet tried bowhunting out of one.
They are very low profile, and pretty warm when it is cold and windy out, but you have to sit up to shoot and even with my Z7 I think it would be awkward.
Unless, I brushed a bit around it where as I could come to a kneeling position.
They are just easier to pack in than a ground blind.
Just a passing thought.

I tried practicing out of mine in my backyard. It is tough but I think it would work. I have thought about this for a while but I have never needed to put the plan in action. It is a great idea though. Just make sure you brush it well. and I think you would need to be shooting from the sitting position. That is what I did in the back yard and when I shoot geese. lol

With a bow it would be interesting... My dad borrowed mine during late muzzleloader a couple years back and had deer bedded down pretty darn close to him. Could have shot them but he was trying to get closer to a buck who kept making an appearance too far from the edge of the woods.

I agree that using a rifle, shotgun, or muzzleloader from these layout blinds would be a slam dunk!
I have killed a lot of ducks and geese from layout blinds and layout boats.
But a bow throws a whole different set of difficulties into the picture for sure.
I have had deer and turkey walk within feet of me when goose hunting!

I cant see how you would draw and get up without spooking them. I have had deer walk through the decoys but not sure how you would be able to draw and shoot out of the blind. But it if was possible it would work.

You would probably never be able to get upright lil'own get drawn on a deer before they busted you in a layout blind.
It's hard enough from what people say to do it in a ground blind that has full coverage. Would seem impossible to me unless you had a magical spot where they couldn't see you until you were at full draw and ready to let the red mist fly.. my .0012 cents

I've thought about doing that too. There's a field I hunt and when the deer get pressure they run right out to the middle of the field. The area is either archery or short range weapons so they're safe. I always thought it would be ridiculously entertaining to wait out there with a slug gun and when they got right by the blind, pop up and smoke one just like goose hunting. It makes me laugh to think about it...
