I think I'd like to use a lanyard this season with my Stan Onnex, and want to see if anyone here has made their own or knows where I can buy one? I have that little lanyard screw thing that came with the release, but the hole is too small for regular paracord to fit through.

Any major cons to using a lanyard while hunting?

I have the Native Archery wrist strap and layard. Definitely recommend looking into that one. Not nearly as cheap as a DIY one, but I feel its worth it. There is also one that connects to your bino harness and doubles a bow sling, if/when you clip your release onto your D Loop. Here is a link, if you want to check them out. I have not affiliation with them, just FYI.

I wouldn't use a lanyard for hunting because I like to hook my release on my string and leave it there. If I'm stalking, I leave it in my pocket until I need it then attach it.

If you want to try a lanyard, you can use any kind of string. I've even seen 550 chord with D-Loop material attached to it and run through the hole in the release. Go cheap to test then pay for something nicer if you decide to go that way.

@-Specialist- That's pretty nice, but seems expensive for what it does... also don't really love the idea of a velcro strap for hunting situations. You like yours though?

@Chetmanley Googled Darkstar, those look pretty nice. Do you have experience with one of those? I think those were one of the lanyards I found on etsy, seems to have some good reviews.

@SHPoet That's fair, but I think I'd end up losing my release if I did that. I'm mostly western hunting, spot and stalk style.

I used paracord with the middle strands removed so it was just the outside sheathing, worked well for my UV Button. I ordered cord locks off amazon (10 for $2.99) with free shipping. They have bunch different colors and even come with round cord if you want that. I have extra so could plop one in an envelope and send to you, but not sure if it would make it safely to you, depends on how USPS would treat it.

Yes I have a few of them. They stay on my wise choice, nothing fancy but they keep my release on me.

That's really kind of you! Totally not necessary though.

I do. I'm curious though, and enjoy getting as many perspectives as I can when I can. What is the basis for your hesitation with velcro strap? Again, not affiliated, not trying to sell you anything. Genuinely curious and I might learn something from your response.
