So true. Hit him in the "wrankles" (that's wrinkles) as we call them in Alabama, and he's toast. Hit him a little high on the shell and your arrow will deflect and end up in never never land. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

My experience is..........

On most shots you won't get a pass thru 'cause your arrow will be stopped by the ground. The 'dillo is going to run and either your arrow will pull out, get lost, or more likely damaged.

Never shot one with a corbon arrow, but I've ruined dozens of wood shafts.

Hard little suckers to trap too!

Do you know where he's denning? That's where he'll go to die. My neighbor shot one that wound up under his porch. Seems like they never quit stinking, so we had to rip the plywood floor out to get out all the maggots and such.

Think twice!!!

In that case...Do you have a rifle or shotgun on hand and are out of the city?

I dont know anything about these critters. I do know that they are slowly making their way to my part of the country. What is the purpose of shooting one? Are you overrun with them, do they taste good or what? I havent heard anyone refer to them as a nuicance but they could be when in numbers I guess, like anything else.

I've shot them with a bow before and if you don't get a pass thru there pretty hard on your arrows. If you do shoot it, be carefull handling it!!! Its said there known to carry Leprosy!!! No joke!!

No Joke,

If you can get a shot from above them is best. That way you can pin them to the ground and shoot them again if needed. I have had them spin heads off the arrows but that is another story. It was a fishing arrow.

Armadillos can be pesky lil' critters in large #s. As a child, my family owned cattle and I would shoot them all the time. In large numbers they're like gophers and make numerous holes, which can cause injury to cattle.(i.e., broken legs and such) And yes, if you don't kill them right away, they will make every effort to return to their burrow to die. And as I found by mistake, they can jump dang near 4 feet high. So just make sure the critter's a lil' bit away from ya when ya smack it.

they arent that hard to sneek up on, come on guys.. lol. I would sneak up behind it and shoot it at the base of its head/neck (right at the edge of the shell) and pin it to the ground. My experiance with this method is 7/7 with none running or breaking my arrows. I always used a feild tip with an addar point behind it.. good luck

My parent have them by there house in fla. they do tons of damage to the veg garden, flowers and dig holes everywhere. At first my mom was wanting to let them be, cause they were different from what she had been used to seeing being from the north. Within a year I had went down there, bought my father a bow from a pawn shop, taught him how to shoot (only out to 15 yards) and now he has something to do. Plus it keeps my mom happy- he's out of her hair and there are no more armidillos

I am not much on killing things cause they 'might' do a lot of damage.

What I will offer is that if you de-bone the meat from the rear legs they are excellent table fare.

Sneaking up on them and pinning them to the ground is probably the best way to do em in.

IMHO

You cut the shell/hide off wash them real good and put them on the smoker...
