I have a Diamond Victory bow set at 63lbs, and when I went to the local shop this weekend to buy arrows, they sold me the Carbon Express CX200 series arrows. The arrows are 28" long (not including the tip), have 2" Blazers on them, and have 100 grain tips.

I am new to archery (this is my first bow), and I have read some recently about the importance of arrow selection and was wondering if you thought these arrows would work okay for my set-up. Thanks in advance!

Need more information.

Diamond Victory bow
Draw weight = 63 lbs

Draw length = ??

Are the tips the screw in tips?

Do you know if you have the 65% letoff bow
or do you have the 80% letoff bow?

blong04:

I am sorry.

These arrows are not even remotely close.

The Carbon Express CX Black 200 series arrows
have a spine (stiffness rating) of 0.458 inches.

The Carbon Express CX Select 200 series arrows
have a spine (stiffness rating) of 0.458 inches.

The Carbon Express CX Hunter 200 series arrows
have a spine (stiffness rating) of 0.450 inches.

You would need to drop your draw weight to 48 lbs
for these arrows to work with a 100 grain screw in field tip
and the 2" Blazers with the shaft cut at 28".

If you want to stick with Carbon Express,
I would recommend the following:

The Carbon Express CX Hunter or Select or Black
300 series shaft would work perfectly
with the 100 grain screw in field tip
and the 2" Blazer vanes
for your bow at 63 lbs of draw weight
and the 80% let off percentage.

The Carbon Express CX Hunter 300 shaft
has a stiffness rating of 0.372 inches,
which means a standard 1.8 lb weight
in a spine tester,
with the supports 28" apart,
would have the CX Hunter 300 shaft
bending exact 0.372 inches.

The stiffness of a shaft
indicates how well it will match
a bow at a given draw weight
and a particular shaft length
for a particular tip weight
and in combination with
a certain size vane.

It sounds complicated,
but that is what OnTarget2! software is for.

Saves me lots of $$. I don't buy the wrong arrow anymore.

I appreciate the reply! Is the OnTarget2! software something that is available for for sale?
Of course.

www.pinwheelsoftware.com

Three versions of the program.

The shaft selector program only is $9.95 for the download version.

The full program, which is what I use, is $25.

Prints extremely accurate sight tapes.
Has the full shaft selector program.

If you choose to buy the program,
feel free to ask me questions how to use it.

I can walk you through it
and get you going so you can figure out
all the scenarios you can imagine.

I run the program with certain specs
for a 3D arrow

versus

a hunting arrow

versus

a long distance NFAA field arrow.

blong,

I shoot a similar setup- 28" draw length, 28" arrow, 65#, 80% letoff freedom cam, 100 grain screw in inserts. I shoot the CX300's 3D selects and Terminator 60/75's. Both shoot well for me with 125 gr heads also. The CX300's shoot a 75 gr head pretty well too. I'm shooting the 60/75's with (3) 4" fletches as per the factory, but the others I'm shooting with either (4) 2" blazers or (3) 3" AAE elites. All of them will shoot with each other at any distance I'm going to shoot at a deer. Of course the heavier arrows are slower, but the deer won't care.

thanks,
Rick
