I just wanna what the average groupings should be from 20-30-40 yards

2", 3" and 4" aka the divide by 10 rule. I wouldnt necessarily say these are averages, but any decent archer should be able to do this shooting 5 shot groups

That's what I do: 1 inch for every 10 yards.

One of these days Im gunna post up one of those "beer can at 80" vids. Ive done it,,, once last summer, but didn't record it.

I am usually good for the divide by 10 rule on my good shooting days. I dont shoot groups at 20 anymore, only two stix per spot, Got too expensive messing up arrows.

Last week shooting at 60 I shot 5 arrows under 5", but then had 2 bad flyers, then it all went south after that. I decided to stop after that, and missing the 3x4 bale completely due to some sort of spaz-pre release-tweak-move I did. Plywood backstop stopped the arrant shot before it went onto the back 40 though, did need to refletch that one.

Please make use of the beer before you shoot it! :darkbeer:

back in my ibo days i could hold 2"groups @40 just about any day....now....4"@30 is about avg. don't shoot nearly as much.
shot more in one day, than i do in a month now.

I usually do pretty well at the local 3d shoots here, top 5 every shoot usually. Had a rough night tonight shooting but at 40 yards I averaged about a 5-6" group with 6 arrows. Shooting at a 3" circle, usually had 3 arrows in the circle and other 3 arrows within an overall 5-6" circle. That is an honest post of my accuracy tonight. The other night I was shooting very well hitting a 3" circle just about every shot out to 50, if not I was within an inch of the perimeter, but that was 1 arrow groups at a variety of yardage, most done at 40 and 50 though.

That is just my hunting bow as well. 62lb DNA with 450 grain axis arrows. I have a very hard time believing most 'average' groups posted on here. I know I am no where near the best out there but I know I shoot pretty decent in my part of the country and compared to the average AT shooter I would probably be considered bottom half haha.

The 1" for every 10 yards is a great goal for shooting! If you do that every time, uphill, downhill, crosswind whatever you are probably a very accomplished archer IMO.

I can keep a 4 inch group out to 50. Most of my shots are under 20 yards when hunting. I have been shooting long range this year for practice and has helped a lot. I try to keep a 3 arrow group inside a pie plate at 80 yards but that doesn't happen every time.

So any decent archer should be able to shoot a 300 score 5 spot at 30 yards. Not a lot that do that at 20.
Yep. If that's a 3" circle.... I didn't say you had to be that good to be a hunter, though you shouldn't be far from it either if you intend to make 30 yard shots. A lot of guys shoot 3d and shoot competitively. So yeah, I would expect them to be able to do this. We all have a random flyer every now and again. I guess I should have said that 1" for every 10 yards is what I shoot for when I shoot targets. I don't always meet this goal, but when I've been practicing regularly, I haven't found it to be that hard to meet.

I strive for the rule 1" for every 10 yards. however I have my bad days along with my good days.

This is what you can expect out of a elite at 40yds if you have a well tuned bow and shoot any at all. Now, some of you dont get worked up cause im not dogging any other bow brand. Im just stating my results with the current brand I shoot and this is why. Easy draw, smooth shooting, and very accurate

so what your saying is shoot robin hoods at 40 yards all the time!

So what you're doing is putting words in my mouth. All I said was that *for me* its the most accurate bow out there and im sure I can find a few more that will agree.
