Just like the past few years my addiction takes over when the new bows drop in November, I usually buy 3 or 4 before I decide which on I want to hunt with that paticular year.
Last few years I have owned a lot of really nice rigs, because really all the manufacturers are offering a nice product nowadays.
But just like the last 3 years I seem to navigate back around to Hoyt, this year is no exception. Traded for a Hoyt AX2 29 and got it set-up this morning.
Felt like home again, very pleased with my decision.
Lightweight, smooth, quiet, fast and of course the second to none quality.

Your note of the “quality being second to none” is still what strikes me with Hoyt. Lots of great bows out there but the over-engineering on Hoyt is something I can’t get away from lol. PSE makes awesome bows but man those cams and limbs are thin. Bowtechs feel precise and exact but also delicate. Hoyt seems to embody the best of both precision and durability. Now in a world where the average bow gets sold or retired a year or two after being bought new for the “latest and greatest” durability and longevity is probably a moot point for most. It’s just nice to have quality in a world where costs are insane, and should you want it to be, a piece of equipment can be the last you’ll ever need to buy.

I was concerned with string angle. I did not compare it directly to the 29.5 X the other day and should have. Hard to believe the X with larger cams has a worse string angle 🤷‍♂️ Another reason to revisit.

It is a snappy little bow, my arrows were in the target before I hit the release!

Like most bow junkies, I spend (too) much time on YouTube watching reviews. PJ at LAS said he had no issue with the AX-2 29 at 30" of draw and he was doing mighty well at 60yds on a windy day.

Short lister here....

I had mentioned the string angle comparison in a different thread; I think it was Ravinhood who pointed out that the point where the string comes off the cam has a big part of this. The way the lift limbs almost curl in toward the riser kinda offsets the massive cams as far as string angle.

It's crazy how much limb flex the Mathews have compared to other companies.

I have seen some reviews that measure dynamic brace height and the Lift platform actually decreases at full draw, by at least one inch. I think this leads to causing a steeper string angle as well.

Hoyt and PSE both have a greater brace at full draw from the tests I saw.

Hoyt has been touting a better string angle in their systems since the Defiant series due to cam position at full draw.

I think it has to flex that much due to the Switch weight design.

Update:
25 degrees and 15-20 wind is better than the last week, so I got to shoot it outside a bit this morning. LOL.
Immediately noticed it has to be the flattest and fastest shooting bow I have owned to date. Being 28" draw and at the top of the #3 cam ............. "She Fast!"
Getting 20 on the sight tape is usually a very early indication for me on how the bow is going to shoot for me at distance also, so I am pretty excited with how well the bow held and shot. Bow and bubble settled very quickly on target.
Looking forward to the weather warming up to play with stabilizer set-up and getting my tape finished.
For treestands and ground blinds this one will be hard to beat.
