Leupold McKenzie series are great for the price.

 

I really like my Vortex Diamondback. I also have a set of the Crossfires and they aren't quite as good. Cabelas currently has the Vipers on sale for $299, not sure how much better they are than the Diamondbacks.

Yep, that basspro/cabelas sale for the viper HD at 300 isn't to be beat. Normal price, there are plenty of good options, but for those being on sale, grab and don't look back at that price.

 

Those in that price range are all about the same. I would do some shopping and wait until someone has a sale and pick it up. Typically you can find a 400-500 pair on sale in that range.

 

Vortex Diamondback HD 10x42 are on sale at Cabelas for $211 right now. I love mine and there's that trusty warranty you can always fall back on if you need it.

Ya I was kind of messing with you. I have a few Vortex Items and haven't had any issues with them either but hear the same stories as you. We haven't used them that hard but for the same money or a little more most times you can get Leupold so I have gone that way lately.

 

I have a set of Bushnell Prime. Have been very pleased with them over the past 2 years. They have a 20 year warranty on them. Break them and they will replace or fix. Snagged mine for $90 on sale.

 

For the money, the Viper's could see the future with their glass quality. Otherwise the Diamondback's. I have the older model prior to the bell-style build they have now and couldn't be happier. Same quality, different body now.

 

Also worth mentioning, there are some Leupold BX-2 Alpines on sale at Cabelas for $229. Can't imagine those wouldn't do the trick either.

Vortex Diamondbacks 10 x 42 on sale at Scheels for black friday for $149.95. I've been "hinting" to family for Christmas ideas. My son has a pair I got him for Christmas a couple years ago and I've been using them this season as he is off to college and I really have liked them

 

I didn't look at the replies but I'm sure it's been mentioned. Bass Pro/Cabelas have Vortex Viper HD 10x42 on sale for $300 for black Friday. Its one of the better binos at $500, not to mention at $300.

If you plan on using your warranty Vortex is an option. I've seen their quality diminish and their warranty is what your buying. Alot better glass for the same money these days! Most manufacturers have great warrantees ...they just don't stuff it down your throat quit like Vortex does. I'd look at Athlon ,Kowa , Leopold, and Nikon all of them have better glass for the money than Vortex! But if you want a cool window sticker Vortex has you covered!

 

At $300 and under, the viper HD is better than those others you mentioned. Climb off the hate for a second and realize what you're arguing. At normal prices starting with the $400+ranges, you might have a point, but it's definitely arguable. That's not the discussion here, though.

 

I have a couple pair of vipers and really like them. Picking them up for 300 is a steal. Wouldnt hesitate.

 

I have a pair of Vortex 8 x 42 diamondbacks that fog up on the outside every time the temperature is 32 degrees or less. Doesn’t anyone else have this issue? I have a pair of Bushnell 10 x 42 that never fog up.

Out of all the ones mentioned already I would go with the Athlon Optics Midas. $229 for 8x42 or the 10x42 Amazon I think you can return them if you don't like them but I am sure you will.
