would tighten up that group for you.

Looks like you are ready to play me for some money.

Nice grouping though. How close to your target spot were they?

Didn't really have a spot but they were in between two cedar trees I ws trying for

For someone that is just starting out that is ok. Don't worry about it right now. I hit my 54 degree sand wedge that far though unless there was a stiff wind in my face.

it's kinda funny that the nieghbours have no problem with me shooting out back, but when I bring out the clubs they are nervous. I have a 70 by 700 lot. I have some other clubs that say SW and PW I am asumming sand wedge and pitching wedge is the angle the only difference??

I really have no idea what I am doing

Pw= pitching wedge

Sw= Sand wedge

Angle is the difference.

You may not know what you are doing but you are doing VERY well for a beginner. :thumbs_up

Keep it up and practice your short game. I'd bet on a guy with a good short game vs. the long ball guys any day of the week. :wink:

Sand wedge is usually 56 degrees, but with more "bounce" on the bottom of the club head. Pitching wedge is 50-54 degrees. Mine is 52.

As far as the level of danger goes, I have yet to see someone "shank" an arrow. I have seen some pretty wicked trigger karate with ugly results, but that just cannot compare to a full blooded hozzle rocket. The bladed flop shot is a close second. When I see my neighbor take out his wedge and start practicing, I park the truck IN the garage.

A buddy of mine used a lob wedge and tried a flop shot about 50 yds from the hole. Ever see a 150 yard lob wedged worm burner? :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately, yes. My brother truly mastered that shot. In addition to scaring the crap out of everyone on the green, he has two broken flag sticks to his credit. That is quite impressive to see in person. :)

Dosen't matter if you use an 8 iron or wedge for those shots, that is a great grouping. The difference in clubs people use varies greatly. For instance, at 150 yards my brothers uses a PW (he is a 3 hcp) and I usually use an 8 iron. I have seen muscle bound people get outdriven by 50 yds. or more by a guy say 5'9'' 160lbs.. The faster the clubhead speed, the further it goes.

9 iron

That grass props up the ball,making easy,consistent groups,and a 9 iron is an easy club to hit. 110 yds is ok for a 9 iron,but its not an absolute. Try hitting some on a bad lie. Try some down hill lies? it may hit differently. What are you gonna do for 50,or 90 yard shots? Gonna bounce on ,or ride the green? Practise them all, and shooting par will be easy to do.
BTW
9 iron is a great club to chip with ,you get some loft,and a nice roll to the pin.

Golf is great.

Nice Stash. :D

Sean, that is a very good grouping no matter the club.

Don't worry about how far people say a club is supposed to go. 110 is fine for a 9 iron. Just make sure you know long you hit each club. When you get better, you may hit them further at some point.

PW is your pitching wedge. That is one club less than 9 in your set. SW is the sand wedge. That would be the next shortest club.

Becareful, golf is an addiction as bad as archery. :D

Down at the driving range there is a game that some of the guys play that might help. There are a lot of crows that like to feed on the range, they walk about at about 100 yds because they have found out that most of the balls go over head. So you take a pitching wedge and see if you can hit one of the crows. If you can scare the bird into taking off you know you've got it close.

With my Father&Mother in law going back to New Zealand he had to get rid of some of his stuff so I thought I would help out and take a very old set off his hands, I have no idea if I am holding them corect or even swinging correct but it sure is fun just wacking the hell out out of them. I use it to lossen up for shooting.I went to the local Canadian tire store and after pricing this stuff out I will never complain about archery prices again ( ya I probably will)
