I am an avid hunter, but not at the point where I can spend $1500 on a bear bow. I am looking for a lightly used bow on here and wonder what specific models y’all would recommend?
I would be switching bows so I have all the accessories, I just want a bear bow under $600.
Draw length: 27.5
Poundage: around 60

I saw a prime inline 1 for $600 that only had 50 shots through it. Good deal, or do you think I could do better?

Better off getting a flagship model that is a year or 2 old off of here. Most models will be discounted quite heavily and well worth it. I found a fully rigged out mathews v3 for under $800 and it was all higher end stuff on it. If you are patient enough you will get a good deal but the closer to season, the faster things sell and less deals to be had... once the new bows start coming out in October/November people will start dumping last years models again.

I know you said $600 but if you can stretch your budget there are some good deals on brand new Elite Kure's for around $650/675 and Encores for $700 from an AT member here. He also has some new old stock Rituals for under $600 which I think are great. His name is barriereef on here I believe. Good luck.

This depends a lot on the shooter. When i bought my last bow (although quite a few years ago), i shot hoyt, mathews bear and one more that i cant remember and the bear was perfect for me. Smooth draw and release. The hoyt was quite a bit more expensive and the i wasnt a huge fan of the draw cycle on mathews. Also, seems like the "2nd tier" smaller companies seem to do better for the customers.

Buying used is a very valid option if you can do the work yourself or have a buddy that is willing to help you out... If neither is true, you could very much end up paying damn near new price just to be able to shoot it....

Even still, of you need replacement parts, it's expensive. Hoyt limbs sell for $300 for a set, as an example. It's not worth the risk, in my opinion.

What will the bow be used for?
hunting only?
or do you also shoot 3D tournaments and would like a bow you can use both?

Over the last 30 years of shooting just about every bow brand out there for 3D and hunting it There is no best brand out there. What feels good to me might not fit well with you.

For a new bow of $600 or less get on eBay
the Bear Kuma 30 is a great bow if you jump on it there are a couple for $549 new on eBay now. You will be hard pressed to find a better deal on a top end bow. This was bears flagship bow a couple years ago.

I bought a Bear Escape a couple yeas ago on eBay new in the box $999 MSRP got it for $425
It is what I currently hunt with. I liked it well enough I bought 2 of them. I will probably never buy another bow to hunt with. I don’t see technology changing enough in the next 10 years to justify a change.

If you buy a used top tier bow that is a couple years old for say $500 and shoot it for 2 seasons its still worth $400 or you can buy a new $600 bear and shoot it for two seasons and be stuck with it because they have virtually zero resale value!

I am not a Bear best bow of all category far from it. I have shot 3D and hunted with a lot of bows over the years

But show me a bow that has some of the specs of the Escape
7075 aluminum in the riser and cams
IBO speeds of 350 FPS. At 27.5 dl I have not had a bow shoot as fast as this one does
weight of only 4.0 pounds
module adjustable from 25.5 to 30 inches on the cam
poundage range in 15 pound increments
32 inch ATA
a good limb pocket design
good strings from the factory
for me the bow shoots great.

Resale??? Why would I change from the Escape
Side note we have pretty much hit a top in what bow companies can do to a bow.
They really can’t make them faster, or lighter, or shoot any smother than they do now.
They are making them easier or quicker to tune With cam spacing like bowtec has or elite with the SET limb pock adjustment

the escape is a 2016 model, here we are in 2022 and I have yet to see any Of the big 4 companies offer anything that would justify me changing Or have better specs.
When they make something better than the bow I have now I will buy one.

The only way I buy a different bow currently ,, if I were trying to go super light on a western hunt and was trying to cut every ounce I could. If that were the case I would find an Mathews Z max made back in year 2000. the bow only weighed 3.25 pounds and still shot 320 IBO

If price was not an option for someone I would probably buy the Elite Remedy. I like a lot of the features and specs of the bow.

But
The Op asked for a top end bow for $600. The bear bows on close out fits the bill

the Kuma made in 2018 can be had new on eBay for $525. Basic same bow as the escape just 2 years newer

I paid $425 for my escape new off eBay. Dang inflation.

And all I was pointing out is ...if the OP ever wanted to upgrade if they buy a good used top brand bow you will still have value and they could probably keep shooting newer used bows every couple years and would only cost about $50 a year to own, that's a no brainer to me! I've done this very thing. Also I'm sure in 1990 they were saying bows are as good as they are ever gonna get as well. Who the heck know when someone is gonna engineer the next great advancement?? Yes they all have similar specs for now but anyone who shoots alot of different bows knows they aren't all equal because of specs!! Buy a new bear for $500 and in 2 months put a $150 string set on it (bear has notoriously garbage factory strings) now that $500 bow is $650 and what do you have? Tons of used bows on here in that price range already have new or next to new aftermarket string sets installed.

I just bought a 2016 elite energy 32 off here a month ago with an elite hdx rest and brand new strings. They were 850 retail when they came out plus 150 for the rest. 1000 dollar bow for 325 is a great deal in my opinion. Elite still makes modules for most of their bows. It's not hard to find great deals on here.

As I’ve stated I recently purchased a impulse 34 and a ritual 30 got both new in box with warranty for under 850.00. Why buy the latest and greatest, and I can buy them. but why when I could buy another 1 on here and still be under what a new flagship costs! There are some great deals out there, all the info on most bows 1 could find on here. Get the skinny on what is good, bad, hold, shoot ability etc… do some research, visit shops ask to shoot some, see if they have leftovers. It would still be under warranty!

Xpedition Denali is a great hunting bow that can be bought for around 400.
Anything pse with evolve cam would be a winner.
Anything Bowtech with the deadlock system would be a winner.
Good luck in your search. I just bought my so a Bowtech Solution SS of of here with sight, rest, and stabilizer for 700ish.
Good luck on your search, figure out what ATA bow suits you and go from there
