Which type of broad head would be best for hunting Elk out west in general?
I would assume a COC head for most scenarios would be best. Mechanicals are illegal here so I have no experience with them.

Well, if mechanicals are illegal that rules them out. I'd go with a good CoC fixed like the Magnus Stingers.

"In general"...I think most guys generally are shooting enough pounds and arrow weight that it doesn't matter. It matters most for those with shorter draw lengths and lighter pounds.

I was thinking COC fixed blade when I made it up. I am going to shoot buzz cuts this year.
