This will be my FIRST season turkey hunting with my bow. I was just wondering what kind of broadheads should I use? I have always used fixed broadheads when deer hunting, but from what I have read people seem to like using mechanical broadheads for turkey hunting, i've seen the Guillotine broadheads, not really trying to take the turkeys head off lol. What is everyone's opinion?

I've used the Guillotine broadheads before and they worked. Me personally though, if I were to use them again I would limit my shots to probably 15 yards. Even out of a well-tuned bow, they don't have the best flight characteristics. If you miss the neck and hit the body, that bird is gone. They are not designed for penetration.

I don't bowhunt for turkey anymore, but if I were to take the bow out again for that, I think the Iron Will Turkey and Small Game broadhead would be my first consideration. Sub-gauge TSS is what's doing it for me these days.

I use the NAP Spitfire when shooting through an open window on the blind, for shooting through the mesh I use Thunderheads,,set the decoy 15 feet from the open window facing away from you, look on line as tot he vitals of a turkey, side view aim from the leg where it hits the body, facing away just above the tail..

The "best" is the one that shoots most accurately. Any broadhead that passes through lungs, heart, major arteries or spine will kill or anchor a turkey quickly. Turkey kill zones are small. The broadhead must pass through the kill zone and successfully cut vitals/spine or the turkey will be likely to survive long enough to escape.

I've shot a lot of turkeys with a bow, probably 40+? The best heads I've found are the over-the-top mechs. Rocket Sidewinders (not sure if you can find that brand/model) absolutely took all function out of the bird when I shot them. But like anything, accuracy matters the most. Any broadhead will work, best of luck
