Other than the BCY material what's the best D-Loop material on the market??? Anyone tried the stuff from Winners Choice???

if you prefer a nice and stiff rope then Gibbs is the way to go, I am always sure to swing by the booth at the ATA show to get a sample that gets me through the year on my personal bows.

I have heard great things about the Gibbs material.

I have used the Zenith material in the past, and it works well, lasts a long time, and gets a great bite when you cinch it down. The material itself can be a little finicky when you burn the ends to make the little melted balls, and the material is very thin which may not work well with jaw type releases.

Zenith is my choice.
I just started using it early this year, and find the balls to burn easy...better than most actually. Maybe they changed sometime recent, but I'll be sticking with it for awhile.

Spot Hogg material lasts forever, but the balls get finicky....especially if you burn the lower on the bow. Not bad if you build a loop to length, then tie it on.

BCY #24....the recent matl i got was softer than the past, nicer imo.

I have tied hundreds of loops and used primarily BCY. It burns well and is easy to get a good tight loop. The secret to getting a good loop is to use Viper D loop pliers or the britesite pliers. I have used Gibbs super loop material, it is difficult to tie but once on nothing comes close to it for rigidity and lifespan.

Oh yeah, one other thing J-Daddy, just in case you have not looked at it, BCY makes 2 other products that work really well for loops, with less stretch than their #24 loop rope.

They are worth looking into also, D braid and their release rope. Both are smaller than the #24, neither stretch as much, and both will work, but in fewer colors.

I do like the Zenith stuff though.....although there is a rumor that it is the same as the BCY release rope.

No one has said anything about Cir-Cut super loop.

I have used this on several occasions and it is tough stuff.

NO stretch and the ends burn fantastically.

It is rather firm, so it is not for everyone.
Because it is so firm, it is hard to get as short a loop as I like.

But it is great. Lasts forever and, again, no stretch.

It is like $5 for a 3 pack of 7" pieces at Gander Mountain.

Cheers!

Personally I think the Winners Choice is some of the best. It is also some of the most expensive.
I bought a spool of 5 colors from Keystone Country Store last year for the archery club. It was 20 dollars. This stuff is absolutely awsome. Makes great knots and keeps it shape. Cannot hardly wear it out. You get several feet of each color. Orange, green, pink, yellow and multicolor cord.
This is what I will use from now own. I don't know if it is made by brownell or Bcy. Thanks

BCY 24 on my hunting bows and Zenith 1.8 on my target bow. The Zenith wears better and has a little less stretch than the BCY, I think. For high volumes of shooting I give the nod to Zenith. I only shoot my hunting bows several hundred shots per year so the thicker BCY is my choice.

Better duck and go before the wind gets up and we all get wet from the wee weee'rs. It is just amazing that any question will get some peoples panties in a wad.

Not trying to be trite or contrarian - just tickling the grey matter. It seems to me that it would be less work than asking around, settling on another material, trying it out, and then finding you don't like it, and trying another. By all means, give each of them a shot if you're so inclined, but the option looks fairly favorable.

Gibbs and winners choice the later seems to hold up better for me like a stiff small loop for ease of use with caliper and hinge releases.

I was using the winner's choice but seemed to.have durability issues with the way I tied my serving in between the loop and release. I've since changed the way I do it and have had no problems. Winner's choice is expensive. I also use the d loop pliers and the loop actually will seperate the center serving. It just does it with all rope material. I just ofder some bcy #24 to try it out.
