Every single handheld scale I've messed with has been VERY inconsistent. Especially the digital ones. Just my experience, YMMV.

We use a large scale hanging from the ceiling next to a wall beam. Hang the bow by inside of d-loop (not d-loop itself, but in between the knots on the string), draw downward with both hands. Similar to this one, but larger. Very consistent readings and easy to zero.

That's the one I use. I have it attached to my draw board winch with a stainless shackle on the strap, one on the other side on the d-loop, and another around the string (in case the d-loop breaks).

Better safe than sorry.

Man, i lucked out last night. I found a last chance archery bow scale 2.0 for $14 on amazon prime and sold by amazon. They go for $44-50. Its not a handheld scale though. Im attaching it to the draw board i built.

 

lol the reviews for that thing show it blowing up... i actually cancelled my order because of the complaints

 

I use a hanging scale, I like it better than the handheld
