Best Grunt Calls Money Can Buy?

What are the best whitetail grunt calls money can buy? I’m wanting to get away from the plastic sounding calls you buy over the counter. I want something that every time I blow into it I create a call that sounds just like what you’d hear in the woods. I don’t care what it costs, I just want something truly special.

I would try to get a Koble call, but it looks like he doesn’t make calls anymore. So what other options do you recommend?

I actually am a minimalist when it comes to bowhunting and I don’t carry a lot with me. Grunt calls have been very useful for me though and don’t take up a lot of room in my pack.

Just a couple weeks back I was hunting here in Central TX when a mature buck appeared seemingly out of nowhere. He was about 55 yards out behind some brush, walking quartering away toward the neighboring property. In a last second effort, I decided to throw a Hail Marry by reaching into my pack’s side pocket and grabbing a grunt tube. A gave a couple soft grunts and he spun almost on a dime, turning completely around to come my direction.

He presented a perfect broadside shot at 28 yards, but unfortunately my target panic kicked in and I sailed my arrow right over his back. I was frustrated, but there’s no doubt I brought him in solely because of that grunt call.

Not sure I agree. Similar could be stated about decoys. Does it always matter? No. Is there a difference that sometimes leads to a preffered outcome? Yes. Cheap plastic grunts, rattling antlers, etc are not the same as good ones for more than just aesthetics sake.

Don’t know how I ended up with it, but I think that’s what I’ve been using since I was 12. I’m 36 now. All the lettering is worn off, but the entire grunt tube is covered in a thin layer of rubber. You use your finger to push the rubber in and it changes between a doe bleat/grunt. Every year I get a comment about my grunt call. I’m 90% sure it’s a true talker

I have the same plastic grunt call I got from Wal-mart in 1991........lol. It's some type of Primos' and you can adjust the read with a little O-ring. Maybe an EZ grunter? I just called a buck in with it a week ago.....NICE one. IMHO you can't buy your way into a call........It's more about knowing the tone you want, the volume you want and the type call you want to make more than how much you paid for the call.

I personally feel unarmed when I forget my call and HATE it........again that's my little cheap wal-mart buck grunt that was probably $19 when I bought it. It has great tone.

I have had and tried 5 or 6 different ones. The Extinguisher is by far and away the best and most realistic. In fact I barely had luck using the others up until I got the Extinguisher. I think that most others such as the primos up roar (or whatever its called) only gives you a single tone which is usually super deep and gutteral sounding indicating a large mature buck. Maybe in Kansas that would work but in 85% of the country, it is to much.

Have an old Mark Drury MAD Grunt that I've used for years. More of a deeper grunt call that gets responses from mature animals.

Naturally, they quit making them years ago but the Flambeau grunt/growl is pretty similar..
I'm pretty sure that's what I have too but called it Flambeau in my previous post. The Mark Drury Mad Grunt. That thing sounds really good and makes the little bucks tiptoe with big eyes and their head looking over their back leaving the area. lol

Loaded question.

The best answer is when you’re calling to buck with an aggressive or dominant personality.

I have had some luck blind calling or in conjunction with rattling but, for me now, it is when I have buck of interest going in a direction that is not likely to lead to a shot opp.
