At the risk of starting a thread that has been beat to death, I'm wanting serious recommendations on what is the best bow ever made specifically for indoor 20 yard competition.

The characteristics I'm most concerned with are as follows;
======================================================
smooth draw, good valley, good letoff (easy to draw and hold) Like Oneida.
rock-solid wall
smooth shot, little hand shock
relatively light (I've shot some bows I consider too heavy)
reliable... long cable life, no need for adjustments for around 10,000 shots
no torque issues (perfer shoot thru system)

Models I'm seriously considering are;
======================================================
Rytera Triad with elite limbs and hybrid cams, with shoot thru cable system
Mathews Ovation
Bowtech Patriot Dual cam
Merlin target bow (don't know what model)
Barnsdale target bow (also, don't know what model)

I'm not all that familiar with other models and am not manufacturer biased, so please give me your suggestions.

again, if this topic has been beat to death, I appologize.

Call Dave Barnsdale...fly or drive to his place and have him set you up with a real indoor bow.....was recommended to me to do the same thing if i really wanted a mack daddy indoor set up :)

Scepter hands down , i beleive you can back that up with some record setting scores to prove it!

and what joel said , that triad with elite limbs looks mighty nice. If it shoots anything like the Bullet-x , it will be a winner.

I have been wanting to try something else. Now, the Scepter III was replaced by the ShadowCat Elite. I have two Scepter III with Nitrous-X, Elite limbs. I honestly, don't know, if I can find anything better. I won't let go of these puppies anytime soon, but I think your answer lies in the Triad Elite or perhaps in the RazorX. I am still lean towards the RazorX, though, particularly the magnum.

Whatever, or Whenever, my next indoor bow will also have a shoot through system on it. It will more than like be a Nitrous-X!!!!!

IMHO...in answer to your question "ever made"....

1. The Hoyt ProVantage with the Force Draw wheels. Good bow for any TARGET venue...but especially the 20 yard indoor thing! Not suitable for 3-D however...but it wasn't designed for that.

2. ASTRO REGENCY...same thing.....SLOW as all getout...but it put the arrow where you pointed it, was quiet, forgiving, and shock free. Held a tune forever...unless you blew a steel cable or dacron string.

Jury is still out IMHO for TODAY"S best ever indoor target bow...

But I'm leaning to the

Merlin Supernova with Omega cams
Mathews Apex or Conquest III
Hoyt ProElite with 2000 limbs?
Martin Scepter III
Barnsdale with Wedel Cams

But of course you are going to get different opinions from different people.

Best bow

The best bow really depeands on the shooter. I would try shooying as many as possible to see which one I liked best. Most Mathews dealers will let you try bows before you buy them. Mathews does make a nice traget bow, but don't take my word for it try out a few different bows.

Rytera Triad with elite limbs and hybrid cams, with shoot thru cable system?

I don't think this exists. I guess it would be something you could do, but the control cable would have to be a split shoot through and then there would be a rotation problem with it. You could also not split it and still have a cable guide for it and split the buss cable.

At any rate, if you want a shoot through system you need the Nitrous-X cams or Barnsdale also handles the Tri-Star.

The idea of 10,000 maintainence free shots on a string, I believe, is totally ridiculous. Maybe there is something out there, but I am not even going to attempt it.

I think my Bowman bows with Wedel cams are some of the best ever made but some can't abide the swivel handle.
With that in mind, my vote goes to the Merlin Super Nova as the greatest all around target bow ever made.
It's by far the most beautiful too. ;)
The Super Nova dogs all the other bows to death in the looks department except for my Silver Accu-Riser II and new Merlin XT. ;)

I know you did not list, BUT, in the Bowtech line... target......... Constitution

Longer ATA, higher BH, still fast, zero shock... pretty smooth draw...

Try it..and I think you may just like it.

I love my Triad Elite w/Nitrous X shoot-thru cams. You can't beat it.

Regarding your choices, you cannot get the Hybrid cam for the Triad in a shoot-thru model. Only the dual Nitrous cams are available in a shoot-thru model.

Martin Scepter II/III...Long ATA by today's standards. Tall brace height. The center point isn't that far behing the limb bolts to help with forgiveness. I like the Fury Cam X, it has a hard wall and a good valley and being an X, you can adjust timing without a press.

I do agree with Field 14, the Pro Vantage is the best shooting bow I have ever shot!!! The forward thrust risor was great!!! I've still got one in the rafters to look at but won't shoot. Magnesium risors scare me, had too many break in half,,,

Wow I keep seeing Merlin supernova pop up but I cant sell mine on here for the life of me.
Something STRANGE going on in the Classified section...there are ZERO Merlin bows of any kind listed there in any of the three categories! I did a search on each of those areas...and there are NO MATCHES.

Last week, on the old system, there were several listings of MERLIN bows for sale on the listings....

WHAT HAPPENED to those listings of Merlins for sale?

Something is running amuck
