I still have my old SBXT and it is hanging up where I can see it because it is just so sexy and can still give the new flagships a run for their money.

I have had about 15 Mathews bows and have shot all there new ones since 2012 and I’d have to say the wake still has the best draw cycle. It’s also super fast 500g 295fps and is the reason why I bought a new old stock two weeks ago since I had gotten rid of my other5 years ago. Oh and is it one great looking bow. The HTR is my cold weather bow it’s nothing like the wake but it is deadly 😉

Switchback XT! After hearing about how good they were for years I picked one up earlier this month. The only thing it gives up to my V3 31 is speed. Otherwise, the SBXT is smoother to draw, quieter on the shot, and more forgiving!

How was the Triax innovative?

The Vertix was innovative with SW cams.

The Triax was just a shorter Halon.

I'd put the Traverse on top even though I've never owned one. The Chill R a close second.

It wasn’t my comment but i found the Triax to be innovative in that it is the quietest (to me) Mathews I have shot, and at the time of release and maybe now the most stable 28” ata bow I have shot.

I agree the Vertix is more innovative and I have owned everything from a Halon to a V3X. My starter bow is a Vertix and backup is a V3X29. I prefer a shorter ATA so Traverse wasn‘t my favorite. If I could trade my V3X for one of the Triax or Halon i owned I would do it. I had a Halon in EV2 that was apparently super rare I believe they only made a few of those the year the Halon 32 came out and they started using Sitka patterns (2017 model year maybe).. Lov e my Vertix, to me it is still the best switchweight bow… CC2 cams were very nice tho.

The Chill X with real top hats would be a fantastic bow. Light and ergonomic. Nice draw. A little fragile, though.

The Traverse was good. It was very similar to the Halon 32-7 (not 5 or 6). I have one of each sitting here and I like the 32-7 a little better. The newer hunting models are different than the 32-7 and traverse, not better in ways that matter and I don’t like them as much.

The TRX-34 is my pick for best overall. Simple. My favorite draw cycle of all time. Nimble in the hand. Straight riser carries nicely. Grips are personal, but I love the grip with side plates. Not as quiet or soft-shooting as the hunting line but does not need improvement.

I am still using my Switchback that I bought new in 2006. I have decided to buy new bow after this hunting season but this thread has me second guessing that decision. It is set at 61 pounds, 28.5in shooting 420gr (with 100gr tip) Easton Axis 340s at 247fps.

What would I be gaining by upgrading to a Phase 4 or whatever Mathews offers in 2024?

I had a good many bows over the years and for my draw length and for free stand hunting I just never grow tired of shooting the Triax. I haven’t thought about getting another bow for a few years now. I do plan to get another bow because I think it’s good to have 2 but for now it just is the perfect whitetail hunting bow for me

A lighter wallet.

I’d probably look for a new old stock like a chill or traverse or halon and probably get for 700 or less the prices of bows now are ridiculous. I last new bow I bought was my HTR until I picked up another Wake that was new old stock and they were going for 1600 in 2015. I paid about a 1000 only cause I had this bow before and never should have gotten rid of it.

Well the heli m has always been one of
My favorite Mathews probably due to centimental reasons but had This happen see pictures
still in limbo with local archery shop to get fixed say they are waiting to hear back from Mathews to get the parts and that’s been over a month ago may try taking somewhere else !

Traverse has been the only bow I have purchased, shot, and kept more than 1yr.

Purchased new in 2019 months before an out of state hunt and it outperformed all other Mathews ever owned.

Since 2019 I have shot new PB both in the field and 3D.

Purchased and sold several newer bows since this one and sold every one of them

Out of all the Mathews bows I have owned, TRX 34 tops the list. Sad that most have never experienced it. Second best would be the Vertix. I loved that little bow.

How in the world did you find a NOS Wake in 2023?!?!?! I’d love to get my hands on an 80# Wake someday! Something about that bow is special

A lot of waiting and looking. There was a 80 pound wake on eBay. Last I looked a few weeks ago. It was a fully loaded bow can’t remember the price but it was more than I paid for a new old stock.

Still have mine from '98..
So I hear a lot of talk about the Mathews Traverse and it being the best bow Mathews has created. I want to hear more consensus, why do you agree or disagree? I shoot a V3 31 now but I just picked up one new from a dealer so I’m excited to see what the hype is about
I have to say my favorite bow was sort of a Frankenstein. I took a Matthews EZ7 and put a ZX cam in it. Had the longer brace height with the speed I was looking for… Should’ve never gotten rid of that one.
