Best Mid Season Whitetail Gear Options

It seems like there are quite a few new, good options for mid season jacket and pants/bibs or ones that are coming soon. I'm looking for what might be the best option for late October through November. Any input would be appreciated.

Code of silence Zone 7 versa
Pnuma Vintis
Kuiu Proximity
Wait for the new FL fleece set?
Kings camo new set coming?

It seems like a good option may be the Vintis jacket with the proximity pants, both have a little insulation, but not too much. I had the stratus for a while so not listing that as an option, I'd like to try something new. I think like most people, I'd prefer bibs over pants as well.

what part of the country is this mid-season for ?
last season, 2nd week of November out here in the central part of the country I was wearing a t-shirt and pants to the stand, putting on a light jacket as the sun went down.
I was looking at old pictures and 2 years ago I was in the same stand at the same time and was covered in snow.
Had base layer with insulated bib-overalls, insulated BP flannel shirt and a light camo jacket over that.

The huntworth elkins set is windproof fleece similar to the stratus and they have great deals before season and around holidays. The code of silence is more quiet than the stratus but I didn't think it was as windproof and definitely a little more bulky to pack in with the berber fleece. My experience was with the zone 7 versa not the dialed in series. I currently have the stratus but am going to wait and see what first lite releases.

Code of Silence is a great and affordable option. I’ve picked up several pieces on here or through their website at deep discounts. Naponee and Versa would be good options..

Agree with ID357 above, I’d say the KUIU Proximity, at least the pants are more late season… jacket maybe cause I’ve heard/read it’s not up to the same warmth as the pants for many.
I have the Proximity pants, they are very warm and I used them a lot last season and very happy with them. No experience with the jacket.

30 degree mornings with 45-50 degree afternoons. I wear the sanctuary when it's below that and have a lot of just general realtree and other camo when it's warmer than that.

I also have looked at the Asio stuff but don't love that there are no bibs for the rut type gear. The guy I talked to at code of silence last year said the zone 7 bib would go with the versa jacket as it was essentially built the same, the jacket was the major difference from the versa.

its highly flexible too, thin base layers or a t shirt underneath to a down jacket and a thick pair of pants under it depending on temps.

I originally thought no insulation in it was a downside but discovered it's really a brilliant design as a thinner gore tex windproof layer which you can layer under depending on temps. It also allows you to vent heat better. With the soft outer later its dead quiet too which is of course important for a bowhunter.

I've worn the stratus for the past several years and it was great but I find that most mornings I'm chilly without more insulation layers and think something slightly heavier or with a little insulation would be better. The majority of my hunting is all day sits in Pennsylvania Novembers when colder weather is here. I also hate the elevated II camo. I may re-visit after the new pattern comes out but for now I want to try something different.

To me, that adds a great deal of versatility to the Stratus garments. If it is 45* you wear less base layers than when it is 30*.....but utilizing the same clothing across the range. Then when it warms up, you can remove a mid-layer base rather than sweating with a heavier insulated jacket or bibs where the insulation is sewn in.

I have several types of heavier insulated camo that live most of the time in a tub because the weather isn't that extreme. Last season I carried a puffy style vest on my pack that went on under my Stratus jacket if it was getting chilly and it worked very well just adding that one extra layer at the right time. For Christmas '23 I received a Traverse insulated hoody top that I plan to carry with me this fall as an outer layer when the wind isn't going to be a factor. Plus it will go under the Stratus when windchill is going to sap body heat.

If you have other gear and layer appropriately for the 30-50 degree days, i would get the proximity for the cold days. If you are trying to only have one item, you may be trying to cover too much of a temperature difference. I love the proximity but would not wear above 40 degrees

The stratus comes in subalpine if elavated camo is your concern

A heated vest would be another recommendation instead of more insulation

I’ve been using First Lite Sanctuary bins and Woodbury jacket (old model) for close to ten years. That said, our midseason can be anywhere from 0F-70F depending on the year.

For the sits where I need a little extra insulation, I have a cheap fleece vest and fleece long johns that help a ton. Also, the original sanctuary bibs have little pockets in the kidney area for hand warmers, and that helps immensely. I’ve also stuck toe and full foot warmers to the inside of my jacket, before.

The Pnuma Vintis gear is 25% off right now and very reasonably priced. I just hate the fact that there are pants instead of bibs.

I'm may order that to see it in person and also wait to see what FL does in the coming weeks. Not ruling out code of silence either, I just don't love the berber as much as brushed fleece. But I will say I have the old cabelas berber pullover and have always loved that, the designer from cabelas is the one who started COS

I have the KUIU proximity stuff and I love it. I wear it as soon as the weather is cold enough but it is pretty thick stuff so it needs to be pretty cold probably 45F or less for me and I don't usually put it on until I'm in my tree. They do also have some lighter weight fleece stuff called "wind pro" and I just saw they are offering the jacket on "outlet" right now.

From what I'm reading, the new first lite fleece will be out in the next three weeks and will have the bib option. I think I will probably go this route.

I would have gotten the pnuma vintis as I think it looks awesome and is just a slightly insulated version of the stratus, but I just don't like pants anytime after the temp drops under 50.

Out of curiosity, where are you finding the First Lite release info? They certainly send tons of emails once stuff is released but i never see/hear much about what’s coming
