Want something for Eastern calling that is not stupid complicated. What do you guys like? I was thinking the Foxpro Hammerjack but don't know about other bands.

I kept mine inexpensive, $99.99 ... Fox Pro Dead Bone... 15 pre programmed calls.... but no way to add calls/sounds, pretty loud ... works fine for me.. killed a yote with it yesterday(22-250) ... it has 4 or 5 different yote howls/calls, 3 different rabbit calls, crows, Voles, fawn, etc.....good range on the remote (over 100 yds), but kinda hard to use with gloves on, I manage ... I set the speaker 50-75 yds out on front... I like being on a hillside looking down..... this is one of my favorite locations, Ive killed several thru the years here ... I set the speaker to the front closer to me of the right leg of the tower .....

I'd call FoxPro and ask if they have any "refurbished" models available. I got the $600 FX5 for something like $300, it only had a few tiny scuffs in the paint and couldn't be sole for new. I was supposed to get 50 free calls with it so I asked for deer, turkey and the rest varmint. I got 122 calls altogether. :thumbs_up

I read something on another forum about lower priced Fox's having poor sound quality and the recorded sounds not of the caliber available with some brand called Lucky Duck which I never even heard of.

hell, the 'yotes Ive killed with the dead bone couldnt tell the difference..... I may up grade one day to one where I can add more calls, but like I said, this works fine for me... I run Lithium AA's in the speaker, and a 9 volt lithium in the hand remote ... I keep extras handy, but they havnt went dead yet in seasons use, and work great in the cold... Ive used it in temps to 5 degrees ...

Never heard that...the new BuckPro is very small and inexpensive...and gets good reviews...there are others out there too...sure some varmint hunting bloggers have reviewed them...

Icotec GC500

I have the Icotec GC500. Gotta love the long range remote with the Icotec's. I sat with a friend last week(he uses a FoxPro)he couldn't believe the range of the remote. The only thing with the Icotec is that when an external speaker is plugged into the unit, it cuts out the caller speaker and the sound only comes out of the external speaker, not really a big deal to me because the caller speaker is loud enough IMO.

Might be a stupid question but why don't more calls come with a rabbit or other small game attached to them to use as a decoy. Only thing I ever see are woodpeckers
