Old used Lonewolf stand and the newer XOP doubles

I hadn't seen those sticks. They look damn decent.

I did a lot of research before I bought my Millennium M7 stand and then modded the mount per some AT videos and posts. Initially I used my LW sticks with EWO daisy straps, but bought a set of Tethrd Skeletor sticks this past winter and it makes an excellent combo. I've seen barely used Skeletors for sale for $200 on the AT classifieds and an M7 for under $200, That is a lot of bang for your buck for $400 in a core mobile setup. Below is mine with a kids camo backpack for holding my "stuff".....modded mount, tree strap w/hook for pack or bow, haul rope, folding saw, etc.

I would get the lonewolf waist and shoulder strap set and not worry about weight; get whatever he likes best. I have an XOP Vanish (i think) and the long sticks. Extremely heavy, but with the straps and waist belt, it carries as light as my 15pound climber.

Seeing as how he's looking for a deal being black Friday weekend and he's new to hunting. Here's a link to the combo I was referring to in my first reply. He would be able to break about even on resale on with this if decides the hang and hunting isn't for him.

425$ +tax shipped
Made in America that's saying a lot at this price point - if he's into that check the origins of the others mentioned.

The stand has platform leveling and a batwing instead of a heavy annoying bracket and strap like the M7. Weight is about the same. Plus it's cast aluminum not expanded metal.

If he's looking to scab together a used setup, I have a lone wolf assault 2 I'd sell for 150+ shipping. The Helo is the better stand though.

I been at this a long time and tried just about all of it, if you have any questions feel free to pm.

I hear you but the buddy is just getting into hunting, I didn't want to overcomplicate it for him right off the bat 🤪
I use a three step aider on two 14" shikars and I get over 15' to my .75 platform. The sticks and aiders weigh like 3# total.

I wouldn’t trust my life to Hawk. It’s cheap for a reason. Novix is hard to beat. The millennium m7 is a solid choice. If you can find a used lone wolf assault for a decent price, solid. The novix double sticks, tethrd skelators or a few others are all a good choice. Novix makes it easy just to buy the package.

That Hawk stand is a POS. Unless he wears a size 6 boot he’ll never fit on it. It is tiny. 20x20 inch platform. Friend of mine made the mistake of buying one. It doesn’t even come close to weighing the 10 lbs they advertise. More like 12.5 lbs.

Like the tethrd skeletor sticks but only 20 inches long. Don’t mind adding extension strap at bottom, but I’m used to 32 inch lone wolf sticks. However I like the tethrd system- looks efficient/safe. Any Rec’s? I want to get 20-25 feet up.
Thx

If you're talking about saddle hunting you'll get a bunch of different opinions.

I did it for 2 years and bottom line i just fiddled too much constantly going from sitting to standing. I also disliked having to lift my bow over the bridge for off side shots or completely spin around on the platform. Overall too much movement for me but I hunt lower than 15' 99% of the time.

I'd also stay away from tethrd saddles, there is far more comfortable on the market, do your research if you decide that route or you'll likely find yourself upgrading anyway.

I haven't tried any of the new "rage of the day" products, but a couple things to note in my opinion.

1. It's pretty hard to beat the original Assualt/Alpha system with 4 sticks.

2. Hang and hunt is overrated. Especially in the AM

3. I truly feel alot of the stuff on youtube is just a bunch of guys who like gadgets as many of these aiders/Daisey chain/1 stick/ no stick options are simply nuts for the amount of work you need to do in the field. Hunting on a 10-15 degree morning, I want to be up the tree is fast as I can, and that is a pre-hung set or at the very least a tree that has already been cleared out.
