Currently I’m using a B3 Alpha, dual caliper. I prefer a dual caliper. Shot a Scott Sabertooth for years. I’ve seen the nonsensical comments previously on how the loop can slip between the jaws, maybe on some elcheapo model 🤷‍♂️, but never with a quality release. Mine is 3 years old and I’m buying another.
I shot a RX1 for awhile. I liked the trigger. I don’t like a flex connector index release, prefer the solid connector. Also for me the speed of the hook style has never been a factor in my hunts.
Still shooting a Scott Sabertooth and have a B3 Hawk as a back up.

I had a Scott dual caliper model that would misbehave in cold weather.....apparently the jaws would not stay synced in Michigan late season cold. Shooting at a doe in December, I hit her significantly to the left of my aiming point, but thankfully recovered the deer. So I went home and did some shooting outdoors the next day. The first dozen shots were fine because the release had been in the house and was still relatively warm. Abruptly, it pulled a shot left, then another, then another. So I went inside and dug out my backup of the same model from my pack and it shot fine for about 10 shots until it also got cold. Needless to say, I resold those releases and went to a hook from that time forward.

Some features that I really like about this release:
1.) The jaws stay closed until trigger is pulled and return to closed when released.
2.) The strap is very comfortable.
3.) The fob on the strap's end makes putting it on easy.
4.) The fold-back design gets it out of my way when climbing, etc.

Been shooting an old Scott molded grip caliper for years, Went to Pro shop and Tech said try this. I now shoot a B3 Clash. My groups tightened considerably since the change. I'm sure Stan, Carter, and Spot Hogg would be an upgrade, but this B3 Clash has me shooting pretty well.

Overall, any one of the Carter's. Spot Hogg Wiseguy for the money. IMHO.

Looking just at the Carter product line, and the names of their releases, they seem to make something for everyone based on style and use.

I use a Carter wise choice 4-finger thumb release. It's the best one because that's the one I have.

Scott s2, Carter Like Mike, truball execution or execute are imo the best but also cost the most. As with many things though, you get what you pay for.

I really like the look of the solex. I used a Scott silver horn forever and the last 6 or 7 seasons a thumb release(Scott exxus and Stan perfex). I did kill a deer two seasons ago with a xtinction 2.

Scott mongoose. But I don't think it's made anymore so I'd buy whatever Scott was the closest to it. Single caliper. Good trigger. If I didn't go that route I'd probably use a like mike

I’ve given some thought to the SH Tuff-guy. The wise guy has far too light of a trigger for my hunting needs, plus it’s a hook style.

For my money,it , the (SoleX) sure is a good release. I won't part with it even though I bought the S2 afterwards. I keep going back and forth between the two. I like my SoleX with the nylon web connection for the personal adjustment I can make and the release itself is so light, you don't even know it is on your wrist. I have mine adjusted with tension and use perfect pull through on my shots. It's easy to reset and hook to the D loop and it's quiet. Had I known then what I know now, I should have just stopped with that one and been done with it. I think the Carter RX1 would easily fall into that category, but I never had the opportunity to try it. By the way. The strap on the SoleX is very soft and comfortable.
