Well fellas I thought I would post some of my bad experience for others to learn from. Take it for what it's worth, I'm just sharing what I've seen here.
Well I had a dozen easton axis realtree arrows with the UN-HIDDEN Deep Six RPS Aluminum inserts and had no problems so this is not regarding those inserts.
Now here's the story...purchased the new FMJ deep-six injection HIDDEN insert arrows for my Nitrum Turbo. Out of those 12 I have had 6 fail me in the same two ways.
Problem 1- upon hitting the ground...JUST the ground, no rocks or anything and in one case just pulling out of a bag target...the Easton Deep six field-point has broken off exactly where the threads end. Leaving the threads inside the arrow for me to remove by hitting the arrow against my hand to vibrate them out. Here's a pic of one of the broken segments next to a full intact FP.
Problem 2- upon hitting the ground...JUST THE ground, ie dirt, grass. That's it. The arrow will break, or fold up to the end of the insert. Aluminium and graphite both. Here's a photo of one I saved that broke up to the insert.
Now, I get that these arrows have done more than simply gone into a nice soft target and I am not saying they are defective. Just that I am disappointed in how they held up when not hitting the mark. Now let's imagine bone...hmm.
I'll be going back to normal FMJ with standard inserts, after of course writing Easton.
That's my take on the new deep six, thanks for reading.
