I know everybody likes big 6's so I wanted to post some pics of the one I killed the other day in Dallas County. 5-1/2 year old + and weighed 185 pounds. The smaller bucks are starting to chase, so the next couple of weeks in Alabama should be fun. I have a even bigger 6 on camera (230+ pound monster) that I'll be trying to put an arrow in.

Hopefully I'll post some recovery pics of the bigger 6 this weekend! ;) He has the biggest body I have ever seen for a Alabama deer. (Trail cam pics are at the Camp :thumbs_do)

Bone head story about the "Big" Six:
We did some early season scouting and located a field we knew he used. I put a trail camera out recently and got a lot of pictures of does. He only showed up once and it was in the middle of night. I decided to take out a few does before the rut and before he came in during day light hours. The first night in the stand I killed two does in the first hour and half. I felt pretty good about my situation. Two great shots and both deer didn't go 60 yards.
Here's the dumb part on my end: The second doe I shot entered the field with a couple yearlings. All of a sudden the deer spooked and ran into the woods. I thought they must have smelled where I walked in. Anyways, the doe walked right to me and I made a beautiful 22 yard heart shot. All of this happened by 4:00 p.m.! What an afternoon of bowhunting!
Fast forward a couple of weeks: I go to check my trail cam pics from this field. First photo, I see a pic of those same deer trotting in the woods, right before I killed the second doe. In that photo there are THREE BUCKS coming in the plot. The bucks are the ones that bumped the doe and yearlings! The "Big" six was no more than 60 yards from me and I didn't know it. I felt pretty bad about blowing my chances, but he has showed up again and it was at 3:30 in the afternoon. I'm headed back out this weekend in hopes of getting a second chance.
