I just went down and weighed a few different colored Blazers...all 6.2gr. Then weighed a couple different 3" X vanes that are an inch longer...9.4gr. Finally weighed the Atlas...9.4gr. So why is that 'so heavy'? Is your FOC or TAW so critical that select vane weight is an issue??? They build them out of a tougher material so they hold up and don't deform, which is the issue with some of the other brands of vanes. What am I missing here?
one could buy the Bohning bolt vane in a 2” which are 6.2 gpi and weight the same as a blazer and the same material as the alpha.

in the same build I go to a 15% foc 547 grains to a 568 grains 12.8% foc. 7 fps difference or 2 yard difference at 40 yards. Not agreeing or disagreeing it’s just a thought.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers, unless you are using 4 fletch? These would be the numbers in my world:
Blazers...6.2x3=18.6
X or Atlas...9.4x3=28.2
28.2-18.6=9.6

547+9.6=556

So even with the numbers you cited (which is a pretty stout TAW), you are asserting a 21gr weight difference is 7fps? My 330 Hexx have 50gr brass inserts, but I bought some 340 Sonics that mistakenly had the 75gr inserts...yielding a TAW that is 25gr heavier. I'm shooting the same tape out to 50 yards without an noticeable difference in POA.

Personally, I would look at a lighter GPI shaft if you want to run a 15% FOC and not worry about minimal numbers on vanes.

Not arguing and yes a 3 fletch vs four. I only added the vane

yeah when going to a overly heavy arrow with not much weight up front, anything on the back hurts FOC

why are you using 4 Bolts or even Blazers, most people will run a low profile like the heat vanes but not 4 of the high profile vanes, especailly if they are worried about foc

Again I’m not arguing for it or against. I just was stating that was another vane option. @Buck12# mentioned they were heavy. @Alaska at heart stated they weren’t that heavy which I agree but @Buck12# could shoot the blazer cut with the alpha material in the Bohning bolt vane.

I understand how foc works and have no dog in the fight.

okay, there are a lot of vane options

how are they shooting now with your hunting set up?
Right now i'm waiting for my string and cables to be made, (damn 3 weeks now ugh). Then I'll start refletching my Rampages and Axis to see what flys better. Also having some shoulder issues all of a sudden, may have a torn rotator cuff.
Fun getting older. I'll let you guys know soon.

These vanes are quiet and fly like darts, holding beautiful groups at 70 yds with a bunch of different fixed blades, bow is tuned but still these things are stiff, quiet and stick like cement, no prep pen needed!

Which previous??

I haven't been able to get an answer if Atlas or Alphas are better for fixed heads
I'd have to think you'll get similar performance on either since the profile is the same, maybe just a durability/noise difference. I'd be curious to know how the stiffer material (atlas?) works with an EZ fletch mini-max that really twists things up.

I have been shooting the Alpha vane for months. The Alpha is made with the AR1250 material which is the same material as the Heat and the X3 vanes are made with. The Atlas is made with the AR1000 material which is the same material as the Blazer and X vanes are made with. The Alpha is stiffer and actually weighs a little less (1/2 grain) than the Atlas. I am shooting the Alphas, the Ultraview vanes and the Max Stealths together on HLR's and they all group very similar out to 100+ yards. All three are great vanes and I will keep testing them all summer long. Honestly I could have each of these in my quiver in the fall and each would perform perfectly. Once I have performance on a vane I really am an aesthetics person and what the vane to look cool 😁....I also don't want and don't need a vane any taller than .50". The Max Stealth is .50", the Alpha is .45" and the UV is right between those two on height.

Great information. Any chance you have used the mini Sabres in comparison? I doubt anyone has has trouble with them flying well, but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts if you have tried them.

Another thumbs up here, been shooting the Alphas since they came out, and have nothing negative to say. We picked up a full set of Atlas at TAC from Bohning - (mix and match 36 ea. for 10$) to try on my sons. The Atlas as stated are Blazer material and much more forgiving - although the Alphas are forgiving enough for me.

I fletched 4 arrows, one each with the Atlas, Alpha, Nitro and Q2, 3 vanes each with the long arm AAE e-z fletch
shot out to 40 yards numerous times with 3 inch groups, which is good shooting for me
then I shot each arrow once with a 100 gr magnus stinger 4 blade, at 30 yards. All flew the same

as far as noise, could not tell any difference if at all

per Bohning they recommend the atlas and alpha be fletched at 1 degree

it will come down to my finding which vane I can buy 20 of each (two) colors to fletch a dozen arrows

Esthetically, which did you like more? Lol.

I only tried the original Sabers....had some adhesion issues plus like I said previous I am an aesthetics person and I just did not care for the looks of them. Too 1985 space shuttle looking for me :ROFLMAO: Not trying to be rude I just don't care for the looks if so many others fly just as great. That's just me.
