Bow case for Bob Lee Super Recurve

966 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  DirtDude
I received my new BL super recurve this week and it's really nice, I have yet to string it up and shoot. But first I need to find a proper case. The stabi-Lock limb end is really thick compared to an ILF and it does not fit in any of my soft case limb slots. Bob Lee does not sell cases and I'm not about to buy case after case just to return them all.

Has anyone else solved this problem with an "off the shelf" case?

Check Lancaster Archery Supply as they have a big selection of recurve cases; www.lancasterarchery.com
I would try this case .30-06 Outdoors 68" Longbow / Recurve Bow Case (3riversarchery.com) and it is 8 inches on the Height for the curved limbs. This should be enough to fit the limbs of your bow and I would like to think this model is not more then 68 inches as are almost all bows that are not English longbow in Warbow size or Yumi/Kyudo bows with a few exceptions on ASL that are over 68 inches.

I got excited for a brief moment. Unfortunately, this case, while long enough, needs a couple more inches in width. The Bob Lee Cobra recurve limbs are 8 inches wide, so it would be a very tight it. I mis-spoke when I called in a super recurve.
I may go with a Pelican case and pluck foam. They make a great case that will fit the bow broken down with extra room for a accessory cut out and possibly even an arrow cut out. I did check the Safarituff transformer case, but I have no way knowing if ti will work and I hate returns.
Bingo , my search is over
I have five sets of "super curve" limbs. Best case I have found, so far, is the safari tuff "Gazelle SR" where SR stands for Super Recurve I believe. Link below. Get some of their limb sleeves as well and you are good to go. I dont find I need the riser case, limb sleeves seem adequate. These work for me on Border limbs, and Backwoods. The limb sleeves may bind on stabilock... in which case I likely would use a wool sock over that end :)

I have a transformer case, too big and bulky for my liking when bow is taken down, but it works fine when bow is set up. Often a product designed to do two things has too make compromises.

The owner is a gentleman as well. Once I ordered three cases, I think two SR and two regular gazelle, he sent me the regulars. I shot him pics, he said "sorry" and simply sent along two more SR cases. Returns too much hassle to deal with.. So I have quite a few safari tuff cases and really appreciate them. For 21" and down risers with standard ILF limbs I prefer a Hoyt case slightly, like the trifold and built in padding/limb pockets.

This was what I was wondering, if it would be a tight fit or not. I knew it would be close fit either just fitting or just barely not fitting being a Super Recurve bow.

I received this case (life time warranty) and I have to say I am impressed. Easily fits the BL cobra recurve along with 12 arrows, stringer and glove with room to spare. it's well padded and has a masonite fiber walled divider that keeps the case rigid. The zipper is heavy duty.
