Ok I know I have to shoot both to find out which I want but its come down to a BowTech Tribute or a Ross Ccr 334 if anyone owns one of the other what speeds, etc how accurate shooter freindly are they. Pros or cons on either ? Any info would be appreciated. I hunt whitetails mainly.

I shoot a Ross CR334 @ 70lbs 31" Draw with 455 grain arrows and I chrono'd at 273 fps. It is a smooth shooter and very forgiving in my opinion. One of the finest made bows around today and there customer service is great also. I have owned a PSE Mach X,Bowtech Defender,Diamond Liberty and Justice and none come close to the Ross I have now, for me anyways. I shot my friends Tribute a few times and it is a decent shooter but wasnt as forgiving for me. Plus he had some troubles with the limbs and I just kind of steered clear of them.

Both are good companies and make good bows. Shoot em both and decide what fits you the best. Good luck with your choice.

Those are the two bows I had my mind set on and the Ross CR331 is what I chose.
The Ross is a very accurate bow.Smooth draw. Shock free. Easy to tune. Fast. Great looking too.
The Bowtech I tried with the fast mods was hard to draw. The bow was fast for sure. No hand shock. Not quiet as accurate for me as the Ross but accurate.

This is what made the difference for me.

1. The grip on the Ross was perfect (for me).
2. The finish on the Ross is the best I have seen on any bow ever.
3. Let the Bowtech down a few times after full draw without shooting and if your shoulder is still attached reach for your wallet and buy the Ross.

I would love to own the Bowtech also but I ain't rich and the Ross is better deal all the way around.

Good luck.

Tribute...

for more reasons than I have time to list.
As far as the smoothness...Ross is not any smoother to draw. Don't let these guys fool you. I have shot both and at the time I shot the I shot the Ross I was shooting my Mathews LX. Even though I was excited to try one and had waited quite a while to try one, I was not impressed. It didn't take too many shots to give it back to the shop owner. Not saying that it was bad or anything...I just thought my LX shot that well. I have shot a lot of bows that just didn't make me want to switch. When I shot the Tribute I was blown away! I had shot many Bowtech as well, and they were not that great of an improvement, until the Tribute and Alligiance. I am shooting it at 65# and getting 295 feet per second with 69# of KE. The bow feels (to me) that it should shoot about 230 or so. It is amazing how easy it is to shoot.
I have shot my LX once since I got my Tribute, but it is now for sale. I won't go back to it...
I agree that it is a personal preference. Shoot the one you are comfortable with. AND then pay the man for your new TRIBUTE!

I own the Ross because of the craftmanship compared to the Bowtech but the Bowtech is obviously faster. Though I will say I shot just about every bow under the sun and that Tribute or Allegiance would be my second choice.

My Tribute is a tack driver and as far as speed, well you can see that in my signature. While Ross is a fine bow. I think the Tribute is a great bow:)

shot them both

i shot them both and also the alliegence, here is what i thought. The ross drew smoothly and shot nice. i thought there was a slight vibration to it. i also did not like the grip on it. The tribute with the smooth mods draws like a hot knife through melted butter...set at 60# felt like 45 or 50. I could not feel any vibration and it was very quiet and it is quick. The option of the speed and smooth mods is nice also, smooth for long shoots, and fast mods for extra speed for 3d or hunting. the alliegence is also a very nice bow, a little vibration but overall a good feeling. i liked the bowtech grips. I ordered myself a tribute in the hardwoods hd camo and should be here soon. with all of the camo options they have there is something to please your eye.

as everyone else said, go and shoot them for yourself to decide which you like the best.

Both very nice bows. In a couple of objective tests, the Outdoor Life test put the Tribute just ahead of the 334 and in the Bow Site test, the Tribute was only two spots ahead. One point is that if you care about speed, the Outdoor Life test had the Tribute at 30 fps faster with the same measured brace. That is fairly significant difference. Of course, if you only hunt whitetails from treestands at less than 20 yards, than that difference is minimal. If you want to shoot a little 3d at any point, or hunt bigger game at longer distances, the difference is not small. The Ross looks great. Fantastic fit and finish. Great strings. Smooth draw. Precise limb pockets and quality all around. The Tribute has perfect vertical nock travel, the hardest and most precise wall on the market making it hold great, very good speed, and has the option of smooth or fast mods. I think the fast mods draw smooth, but others differ on this. It also has great strings (452x), and every component is high quality. The bottom line is that for your stated purposes, you are looking at two of the top 3-4 bows available, and either one will serve you well. Shoot both and get the one that jumps out at you and feels better. I chose the Tribute and love it, but everyone is different. You have a tough choice.
