I have been wanting to get a hunting vest for a while as i carry a lot into the woods with me while bow hunting but don't like taking a back pack. Well the ones that are commercially available are to expensive right now for me so im making my own. I used to flyfish alot and have a couple vests laying around. Im going to take one that fits right and as the pockets like i want and make my own. Its tan so i can leave it like it is or color it somewho to be more camo like. Im gonna cut a hole in the back for my safty strap to come out as well. It has a D loop in the back so if i choose to take it off while on stand i can hang it on a hook. Any Suggestions? I will post a pic of the finished vest once im done. Can't wait to use it this year.

I think you have a great idea. I bought a Natural Gear turkey vest this summer, the primary purpose was to take the seat off and use it for deer hunting. I think it's perfect. I bought it on E-Bay for $20.
