Maybe some of you history guys can find an answer for this. Why is the riser of a compound bow called a riser rather than some other more obvious name. It's probably very apparent to everyone but me. No big conspiracy here just curious.

ox shut the hell up

It was invented by Mathews Riser, a German scientist, who stole the design from Martin Cam who stole it from Luke Hoyt...oh nevermind...:D
