i have had several archery shop people tell me that two of the same brand bows one a 70 lb max and the other a 80 lb max that if the 80 lb max bow was set at 74 lbs draw weight and the 70 lb max bow was set at 70 lbs draw weight that the 70 pounder would out shoot and out perform the 80 pounder set at 74 pounds draw weight is this so and why?

Most bows are designed to be shot at their maximum settings to acheive best results.

With today's bows I honestly don't think the difference would be enough to wink at.

I would look at is this way:

Do I need 80lbs limbs..will I want them for something much bigger than deer later on or will 60-70 suffice...
