Anyone have any alternatives to ship a bow besides an actual bow box? Not sure if usps or ups have boxes that would adequatly fit it

If you have the capabilities to disassemble it the cost will be much less, or go to a bow shop & ask for one.

I've given bow boxes to folks to ship bows, and every customer who buys from me is offered the box it came in.

So that means you are going to use your hard bow case or go out and buy one to use as a shipping container rather than a bow box? I've heard of this, but as a one-and-done rather than a practice. Plus current shipping costs ramp up significantly with the extra size and weight added with a hard case. I just keep the bow boxes in our store room and have it readily at hand if and when I resell. If the bow makers send them in a box, I would think that is sufficient if packed correctly.

If I was going to disassemble it I would CHECK with the buyer first to make SURE they had the ability to assemble it & if that would be OK in the first place!
Don't you have a bow shop near by to get a box from? That Plano bow case will cost close to $100.00 to ship now days.

I had a seller ship a bow to me in a box that was created out of cut up home depot boxes that were taped together. Looked terrible when it arrived, but there was a lot of padding inside so the bow was okay. I would never ship one like that, but I can say I've seen it done successfully.

I just save the bow boxes from bows I bought at the store or used on AT. Even ask friends for their boxes if they're not going to use it. My last backup is asking my local bow shop, who usually always has extra boxes to spare.

I recently bought a bow off here and it was shipped in a USPS box. It was a short brace bow so maybe that is why it worked. Might want to check them to see what's available. I have always used a used bow box. I keep one in the basement.

I was wrong. I just looked at the box again and what the guy did was take like 3"x16"x 15" (about) virgin boxes with flaps open, tucked one box into the other, then a third one to get the length he needed, then taped each section together, closed the end flaps after inserting bow. Worked great and I did not even know it was not one long box till I looked closer. Great idea for next time.

There is Several Options offered here. Just need to know the overall Length the Box Needs to be so when you do start looking you find the one that will work. You also might want to add some Bubble Wrap to give added Protection. When I was shipping Bows the Cost were Much les than Today's Prices. I shipped a 48 inch Compound and was maybe 20.00 Bow they have a sizing scale they use to Take into Account most anything over 30 Inches is considered Over Sized and tacks on a Lot to the Cost. Just realize this as TYD could be a lot more that you Think.
Hope you find the One that Works.

If you would cut the tape on both ends , you could keep a couple behind a door so if some body would happen to need one or your shop may also need one.

Yeah, we have one door, the main one. We have far too much extra inventory for that. There is no reason to hold onto them, unless it’s a custom order that someone prepays for, then we keep it in the box until the customer comes in. Otherwise, it’s more clutter in a small shop that can be used for other things.

Hi,

i understand shipping costs have increased. is that because

of holiday season ? or is that just the new norm ? i do like the

idea of shipping in bow case. i'd rather pay more for safe

shipping, then need to repair. or lose of item. i've gotten bows

thru mail twice. both times bow was fine. once, there was a

corner of box tore. everything "in" box was good. except front

stab was not in box. not happy ! how fed ex didn't notice this

long thing sticking out of box is beyond me. contacted seller,

and shipper. seller said he shipped it. shipper wanted packing

list. that i didn't have. end result - my lose ! even took pic of

back bar an gave to fed ex driver. i said it looks just like this,

just longer... crickets !
