Hey AT - I'm looking for any bow shop recommendations in NC/SC someone might have. I'm located on the border and willing to travel for a good shop with knowledgeable staff. I mostly hunt and will be in the market for a new setup to build/start dialing in for next year so I'd like to start feeling things out. I have been to the two local spots near me in Fort Mill/Charlotte but looking for other recommendations. A plus if the place has Prime, Hoyt, Matthews in one spot. Thanks in advance AT.

Wasn’t a fan at all. Walked in the front door by the register with someone at it. Granted he was ringing someone up. Made a slow loop around the store. Browsed all over. Passed the guy at the register a second time no customer this time and out the door and was never spoken to or acknowledged at all. That was just my experience and enough for me to cross that one off my list of potential shops. (Hour from me).

Thanks for the reply,

Hopefully both, but firstly bows on the rack to feel out. It's time to upgrade and I have not had the opportunity to shoot anything recent. I mostly hunt solo and don't know many other bowhunters that I can lean on either. But, Ideally it's a place where I can build a relationship with the guys/tech too and maybe gain some knowledge along the way. Just trying to narrow down which directions I should drive 1-3hrs first.

Another recommendation for Droptine archery (DropTine Archery), my local spot. It's just ran by a man and his wife (Robert and Pam) so it's technically a small shop. They've got Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, Prime, Elite I think, and Athens, and their sister brands + Trad gear .

They have odd hours, get there early at 3 pm and you won't have to wait. Of course, It's prime season now so they're probably stacked. Robert is a straight shooter and says what's on his mind. He's been doing this a long time. He knows his stuff. Show respect get respect. He personally showed me some tuning and bow tech basics when he didn't have to.

Another recommendation is Grafton archery, stopped in there once, nice people.

Late to the party, but I have to add my vote for Saluda River Archery.
They have always been quick to acknowledge me when I come in and take their time to make sure I got what I was looking for, even when busy.
I went there years ago for my first bow and Kevin must have spent over an hour patiently getting me shooting before I had even committed to making a purchase. I was there a few days ago and they had a good selection of Mathews, Darton and Bowtech on the walls, set up and ready to shoot. Fairly certain they carry Elite and PSE as well.
Good luck

Damn. You’re better than Google.

I think it’s great how everyone is helpful around here.
Yeah, everyone has been very helpful. Google will only paint a broad picture sometimes. Real life experiences that sometimes people don’t share in a review are valued. I find myself utilizing forums like Reddit as my main form of reviews for just about anything these days.

Pass thru archery in Asheville,NC. Kevin is a heck of a tuner.

This^ Kevin is the best tuner in NC now that I have moved to Tennessee (LOL) Kevin is a great hunter too! The last time I shot 3D with Kevin, we tied at 8 up! He does this as a side in his basement, so you need to make an appointment.. Jefferies in Columbia has done many favors for me to, good guys and if you don't know their history, you need to check them out, Senior used to shape recurves with Fred Bear!

I’ll throw in Mastin’s Archery in Rhonda, NC. Owner very knowledgeable and will go above and beyond.
Droptine Archery in Advance, NC gets great reviews in my area as well.
Coopers Trading Post. Prepare to be amazed. You name it he stocks it and I’m not kidding. Target bows in all colors. Hoyt, Mathews, etc. Target sights, clarifiers, lenses, whatever. Can be pricey though.
