Does A Person Really Need A Super Fast Bow To Shoot 3d And Win. I Got A Pretty Short Draw 25" And Dont Get Alot Speed Off Bows. If I Can Judge Yardage Pretty Accurate And Shoot Straight Can I Be Compative With Some Of The Better Shooters And Faster Bows. Any Insight Will Help Thanks

I have a short draw also. I am not great at judging yardage.
I think in the IBO formats of 5 grains per pound we are at somewhat of a disadvantage if you are below the level of very good at judging yardage. What I'm talking about is my bow shooting 283 fps and the guy I'm shooting against is shooting 303 fps.

It doesn't matter to me in 3D shooting, low 280's is plenty.
I like "fast" bows for hunting. Now I can get my hunting arrows to travel at a good speed pulling 60 lbs. instead of 70. Hopefully down the road as I get older and shoot less pounds the bows will be even faster! My father is 67 and shoots a low 50's bow for hunting and 3D. He has a shorter draw and "fast" bows help him.

I'd love to pull 60 lbs. and launch a 420 gr hunting arrow at 290 fps. I'd probably back it down to 55 lbs.!!

Sure great yardage estimation is the answer. The hard fact is that misjudging by only a yard or 2 between 40 and 50 yards is a big deal. I just shortened my Turbotec to 26.5" draw length. At 58 lbs I am getting 302 fps. Us short draw guys dont have to be at a big disadvatage anymore. Some people say that these bows with a low brace height are real unforgiving. Its not so true when you have a short draw length. If you have good form, they are very accurate. I also have and Ultramag that I installed spiral cams on. It is only a half inch reflexed riser so it is pretty forgiving. It is set up at 27" draw and runs 295 fps at 62 lbs. The turbo is 35 1/2 ata and the ultra is36 ata if my memory serves me correct. They are long enough ata bows to shoot well. I have had good results with both shooting spots. I am able to shoot 300's with either. My x count is now in the low 50's and improving, the point being that fast aggressive cam bows are still accurate.
