I've got permission to hunt some new land this upcoming season but I'll need to use a ladder stand. I've never hunted with a bow from a ladder stand, any recommendations on a good stand to use without breaking the bank? Maybe something around 16 foot or so? Also, when hunting from a ladder stand do you keep your bow in your lap or hang it from the tree? In a climber I always take off my quiver and hang it, but keep the bow across my stand.

Use a bow hanger if you can. I hunted a few times out of my buddy's ladder stand and had to lay the bow across my lap and it was a major PIA for me. Not a fan of bow hunting out of ladder stands in general though, but if all I had were ladder stands, I could make it work. But definitely use a bow hanger

I use them and hold my bow--or hang it on the tree, depending if it is daytime hunting wtd or nighttime hunting feral hogs. And sometimes I lay my bow across my lap, sometimes stand it on my leg, and sometimes put the lower cam on one leg and the stabilizer on the other.

Find a stand with a flip up seat and platform that goes back to tree. This allows you plenty of room and lets you lean against tree. All I use are ladders. Blend them into limbs and you will be fine.

I often hang my bow on screw in hook but when deer are around it is on my lap; when standing it is in hand ready to go. I don't hunt the relaxed deer that some do...gotta move as little as possible.

We have a bunch of those and they are nice to hunt out of I prefer ladder stands they are safe and easier for my dad and uncle to hunt out of that are 68 and 69yrs old. They are stubborn though and still use their climbers fron time to time.
How are they for bow hunting? Do you think they are high enough? I'll probably end up hanging my quiver in the tree and keeping my bow across the arm rests. It seems like too much movement to have to get a bow off of a hook especially being lower to the ground

If you can put a stand up and leave it without getting stolen then I prefer ladder stands. We have 9 ladders between 3 of us on 2 different properties. I hate small platforms and like platforms that go back to the tree with flip up seat, that way you can stand and turn around if needed. I also like to stand a fair amount of the time. Much easier to put up with a couple of buddies.
Ladders are terrible choice if you have to set up and take down often, bit of a pain.

I use the 15 foot ones from dicks sporting goods in the fall they are usually on sale for 59.00 so you are not out a lot money in case they walk ,platforms are a little small but you get used to them ,also I hang my bow and my back from to hooks one on each side of me,just put your bow hook up higher if you shoot from the standing up position,I usually stand when I shoot so that I am closer to the tree.

Work great for bowhunting, I like to set them in mutli-trunk trees or those with low braches. Never had a issue with deer seeing us in them just be smart about how you set them up as not to stick out.

I have never hunted from a ladder stand. I would like to try one for safety reasons.
My big concern is that they are so obvious. Bigger profile than a hang on and seems to be further away from the tree.
How do you make then less obvious to deer? Or am I overthinking it.

Shot lots of deer from 15ft ladder stands. I set with bow across my lap, one hand on grip, and other hand/release hooked to string. Doesn't take much movement to get into shooting position this way.

I've never seen a deer notice the setup. I'm much more concerned with being winded than seen.
