I recently acquired a new SS34 bow, which has been shot less than 100 times. However, like many other SS34 bows, it has an issue with the lower cam system. The problem first manifested as the serving coming loose and separating, resulting in significant wear on the string.

At first, I thought replacing the string would solve the problem, but that turned out not to be the case. I contacted my dealer, who was very helpful, and they contacted Bowtech. Bowtech provided new strings, and once installed, we thought the problem had been resolved. Unfortunately, after shooting a few arrows, the serving began separating in the same place and manner as before. This makes me think there might be a problem with the bow, possibly with the cam.

I'm not sure what to do if it is a cam issue, and I'm hoping Bowtech can fix it if they can. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, have they found a solution? I have other Bowtechs and other brand bows that don't have this issue, so I'm still able to shoot, but it's frustrating. Bowtech is working with my dealer, so I hope they can resolve this soon.

Update: After trying three factory cables, the same issue occurred after 75-100 shots. We're now going to try aftermarket cables, and I'll update again once I know more.

Another update: After trying four cables, we're sending the bow back to Bowtech. Unless all four cables were bad, it's unlikely that the issue is with the cables. I'll update again when the bow comes back from repair.

Final update: The bow has been repaired and is working well. I've shot it over 100 times without any issues. The problem was with the cam, and Bowtech replaced both the top and bottom cams, as well as the string and cables. They also reset the deadlocks to factory settings. I'm very grateful to Bowtech and my dealer for their help in resolving this issue.

Thank you everyone how help and shared with me.

Hopefully BT makes it right. I take it these are both stock strings sets? FYI, I didn't even have the bow in hand yet and had a set made by Catfish Customs. TIGHT end serving and end loops show no sign of separation or wear on either cam. Maybe its time they outsource their strings. Hope it's not a cam problem. Luckily I'm not seeing it. Keep the thread posted. Following.

Thank you for writing it is good to hear yours is okay, it gives me hope that new strings will work. I like the bow I want this to work out.

I have a CP30 and the top cam cut into the serving of an aftermarket cable in less that 100 arrows. Then put the stock cables on and it is now cutting through the serving on that after 150 arrows or so. Will be going back to Bowtech shortly. Cause is a sharp edge on the cam where the cable rolls off to the cable flex guard, should be an easy fix.

What's your definition of a "easy fix"? Serious question. BTJ

Been a lot of speculation on what is causing this issue.
I would think Bowtech could replace the cam / cams with one where that edge has been machined without a sharp edge.
I can do it with a fine file but don't want to at this point.
I think it seems to be wide spread enough with the first run of bows that bowtech will have to address the problem both on the ones being made now and offer a fix/ cam swap for those already out there that have bad cams.

I have seen the problem before on the Solution and the Solution SS. Was told by the Bowtech dealer it was the strings. The factory strings were not made by Bowtech. They were outsourced. Bowtech sent new cables for free, and it happened again. That is really all I can say about it.

This has been an ongoing problem on all of the bowtechs with the cam drive. The cable track is just hard on serving, especially if the serving gets to be larger diameter. I have built some that have lasted many thousands of shots without issue, but eventually, even with the tightest serving and smallest diameter they will eventually separate in that area. A quality string builder that really knows these cams can build you a set that lasts, but even then that will most likely be the first place that separation will start. I had one of my buddies that shoots a ridiculous amount of arrows get almost 2 years out of his reckoning on my set of strings before they started to go. He shoots year round usually 3-5 nights a week probably 100+ arrows a day. He probably 50,000 shots or so out of his. But I did as tight of a serving as I possibly could on that part to get them to last there...
