Hi all! I. Am. A. Newb. Don't eat me.

I'm also... not the most mechanically inclined, so what might be obvious to you, might not be completely obvious to me!

With break off points, what's the accepted method of... breaking off the shank to adjust the point weight? Do you smash it? Slice it? Will it out of existence?

Depends on the point. Victory for example is cut thin. Very little effort. I hold them right at the base with a pliers and break off the end with another pliers. Really easy with those.

Ethics Archery break offs have to be cut. At least enough to break them off. They are a royal pita, but really close tolerance in the shaft. Don’t try and do your vise/hammer smash bit with those. They will only bend and you’d ruin them.

Yeah - finally found a YouTube video through some more by adjusting my Google searching. So, no smashing! Got it.

To be honest, not anywhere in my archery journey where I'm going to start adjusting point weight - more asking out of curiosity. So, don't worry! Won't be smashing points anytime soon. If I do, I'll be sure to tell you the horror story :ROFLMAO:
